Hi all, Sam here,

I've recently treated myself to a Beocenter 7002 in all working condition (tape deck working great and MMC 20EN cartridge included).

I've also refoamed my included Beovox S40 speakers and am currently using this system with those, however I was wondering if this system is limited to connecting to speakers of the same era of 2 pin din connection? Or am I able to somehow connect Beolab 6000s to my pride and joy?

I'll need to confess I'm relatively new to B&O, but am loving it so far!

Thanks for reading!

Hi Sam,

Welcome to Beoworld!

Yes, you CAN connect absolutely ANY speakers to your Beocenter, these can be either B&O Beovox speakers from the same era, any other brand of passive speakers, as well as B&O Beolab powered speakers if you wish!

And by the way, if you receive any further comments that say Beolab speakers won't work on this Beocenter, please ignore them!  As you will see from my sponsor link at the foot of this page, my career is designing and testing cables to get every possible combination of speakers working on Beocenters like yours so I can say with absolute certainty that this is possible.

Please let me know which speakers you would like to use, then I will be happy to help you to connect them to your Beocenter.  There are a wide range of options and I can explain everything you need once you have made your choice.

Looking at the Beolab 6000 speakers that you mentioned, although your Beocenter receiver doesn't have pre-out sockets fitted, you can still connect these speakers by one of the two methods below:-

1) Connect two speakers to the headphone socket of the receiver with this cable (please add a note with the order to request a free 6.35mm adapter to fit the larger socket on the Beocenter): https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/77-241-minijack-to-beolab-line-in-using-phono-rca-sockets-one-cable-for-two-speakers.html#/2-length-1m

2) Connect two speakers to the 2 pin DIN speaker terminals on the back of the receiver using this special Attenuated Converter: https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/33-power-amplifier-to-beolab-line-in-attenuated-convertor-kit.html and then use this cable to connect the speakers to the output sockets of the Converter: https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/6-30-av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in-one-cable-for-two-speakers.html#/2-length-1m and you also need one set of these DIN plugs: https://soundsheavenly.com/beovox-passive-unpowered-loudspeakers/74-2-pin-din-plugs-sold-as-a-pair.html

Option 1 is cheaper, but the cable will be visible at the front of the receiver and this will disable any other speakers connected to the receiver.  Option 2 allows the cables to be hidden and the Beolab speakers can be used along with your other speakers if required.

Please set both speakers to “Line” mode using the small switch near the input sockets.  Any questions, please ask!

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply!

Great to know that this pairing will be possible, will be spending evenings looking for a nice pair of Beolab 6000s in that case.

Ideally would be going with the second option, as already trying to conceal the tape-in connector at the front linking to my Alexa.

Cheers again for the help and will be in touch!
