I've been running my Penta 1s from my Beomaster 6500 / 7000 successfully for many years but was always curious/concerned that the speakerlink output is for passive speakers. Obviously the Penta 1s don't have powerlink inputs so I can't use them without adapter cables but even then, the functionality of the powerlink connection is wasted on the Penta 1s

My question is: what is the difference between the audio signal on speakerlink pin 1 and powerlink pins 3 / 5. On the schematic for the 6500/7000 they are not the same but my expertise is not good enough to identify the difference.

OK, I've had another look and I can see that the powerlink outputs bypass the channel amplifier cicuits which feed the speakerlink outputs but in listening terms how is this going to affect the sound apart from, presumably, volume ?
