The Onkyo has preouts for all speakers so the BL 4000 is connected to the center speaker preout - line on speaker, the center speaker only works with the Onkyo selected. BMs works with only M70s

I tried with the BL 4000s as surround speakers but got tired of the clicking off and on and the long wires, now I change one for the other about every second month, that way they both get use, until I find some other job for them.

I have too much speakers here: S45, P45, Bv 3702, Bv 1600, CX 1000, Type M, M70, BL 4000, BL 8000, and one pair no name to test in the workshop,  I really dont know why, they all just was here someday.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Hi Steffen,

Oh how I hate be the jealous-type, but OMG you found MS 150.2 speakers and cheap?

I have been chasing a pair for 3 months and the seller is completely unrealistic about his un-restored pair wanting $1,800 or about 1,660.

Talked with him 3 times and the guy just won’t budge. He is on his 8th listing on eBay.

On top of that he wants $500 for domestic shipping and if you can believe it, $800 to the US.

OK, I’ve decided it is better to be HAPPY for your fortunate purchase. So good for you Steffen, enjoy your find! Yes - thumbs up

Fantastic vintage setup, Søren! Really miss my first setup now seeing the pictures. It consisted of a BeoMaster 901, BeoGram 1000 with SP6-7 and BeoVox 1100s. I still have it, but it's probably been 10 years since the last time I used it; back in the days where my the interest for Bang & Olufsen started. I still remember listening to Keld & The Donkeys with 'Jeg ringer på fredag' and Queen with 'Another one bites the dust'.

I think I will try to get a similar setup up and running again in the near future and see if I can find the records I listened to back then. Smile

At least I also have enough speakers to choose between! Laughing

BeoVox C40, CX100x2, RL35, RL45, RL60, S22, S45.2, S80.2, S2400, M100, MC120.2, MS150.2, 1100, 3000, 3800 and a Cona

BeoLab 3000, 4500, 6000 and Penta MKIIIs

Beside that I have 3 wireless speakers - a stationary, a semi-portable and a portable - from the company I work for. They actually get more use than my B&O speakers... Embarrassed But serious listening is still done using a proper B&O setup, and I don't think that will ever change!

@Steffen

Congratulations on your MS150.2s! Have they been refurbished or are they an upcoming project? And which amp are you planning to use with them? Smile

@Jeff

Well, geography probably has a lot to say. They are usually pretty cheap here in Denmark. There was a refurbished pair of MS150.2s in good condition for sale a few days ago for about $350 - and it was an original white pair = very rare! According to the owner he bought them directly from B&O back in the days through employee sales (not sure if he worked there or knew someone who did). If I had the space I would probably have bought them, but nonetheless I'm very happy with my rosewood MS150.2's and somehow I actually think the rosewood finish suits them better.

But keep looking Jeff! Sooner or later you will find a good pair! They may play like a $1800 pair of speakers, but I certainly wouldn't pay that much for them!

Hi Dennis,

Thank you for your input as well as the good wishes. Much appreciated!

I have been in a reasonably serious search for either a pair of MS100 or MS150 for about the last six months, but their size and weight presents a unique problem coupled with their relative rarity in North America.

In that time I have come to the conclusion that a pair of un-restored but nice cosmetic condition should sell for $400; re-foamed for $500, and rebuilt completely for $600.

Thus an un-restored pair (re-foamed, but not re-capped) selling for $1,800 is well….. ludicrous.  No - thumbs down

After 6 unsuccessful eBay auctions I contacted the seller and POLITELY shared what my very wise father shared with me, “If you do something repeatedly expecting a different result you are a fool.” (I changed the “fool” to “misguided.”)

The seller thought about it and re-listed again for $1,800, so my advice fell of deaf ears.

With someone so unreasonable, inflexible, and plain stubborn there is little real hope they will “see the light.”

Somewhere out there, there is a sensibly priced pair of either MS100 or MS150 speakers and I will find them.

What is required is a bit of good fortune and a whole lot of patience.

Jeff

Well the virus got us all. just to see you discussing M150, get me to thinking about if they could fit instead of the M70s, some of my speakers I bought just because they were cheap, some of them just because they had good critics here on the forum (P45s comes to mind) my first pair S45 (2 way) because I didnt know what I was doing, and now when I sold my BG RX I again starts thinking of BG 4002/4.

I just finished listening to the BM/BG1000, about 3 hours disc jockeying and loving it

Hi Søren,

Could there EVER have been any doubt that I too have the BeoVirus? Good grief, there shouldn’t be!

These MS150 speakers are so nice, even their backs are veneered, but the seller is fixated on their perceived value….. plus there is a family issue dynamic going on here with the seller (the son) considering my advice and his father telling him these speakers are worth their weight in gold.

In all likelihood I am not going to be able to “reason” with this father and son team, so I will continue my search.

Changing the subject (more BeoVirus) I am beyond excited at the prospect of getting my never complaining Beogram 4004 to be remote controllable, as it was intended.

True it is a limited function, but Martin is sending me the missing two pin and when I have them…MAGIC! My equally never complaining Beomaster 2400 has a 7-pin PHONO slot so there is every chance that this will work.

I also just purchased the original User’s guide for the 4004. (Yes I know I can get it from BeoWorld, but this is the original…. and inexpensive.

If you are keeping track of our BeoViruses I additionally just purchased a fantastic Beolink 1000 for my BeoCenter 9000. (I am using my other Beolink 1000 with the Beomaster 4500 in the kitchen.)

I hear the orange juice is good for a head cold, perhaps orange juice and Tequila may cure the BeoVirus. You think? Drinks

Nah.

Many things can make it dormant, but nothing can really kill it.

Although in my heartless moments, I look at my B&O thinking, "I've got to sell you guys", this never comes to reality. The next day I'd think to myself, "You know you will never part with your B&O, what were you thinking?".

A new mobile, a new car - a nice electric one - have had me kept away from my B&O these days, but a Beocord 1500 - white meters - has just arrived, well, you know the rest!

Big Smile

Hi Jacques,

Nice to know that I am not alone.... not that I thought I was.

If I could just "reach out" to this idiot seller it would make my day.... and probably his too if he wasn't so unrealistic. Whatever.

Reality time, all my stereo gear: McIntosh, Tandberg, Akai, and B&O are doing great, with the exception of my Beomaster 1000. (That is a future project.) So I am grateful.

Its difficult to say goodby to them, I sold my BG RX to my nephew, and I have been thinking about it this whole week, did I give him enough instructions, will he handle it properly, and should I better go and check if he hooked it up properly. Well I will se him on Sunday and then check it all. Well it stays in the family and I will see it now and then. My wife told me that I was running around like a sick hen when they picked it up. My niece in Texas want a small system for their bar, I will buy a set just for them, restore it and not think about keeping it or get attached to it.

Thank you. The reason they were cheap (600DkKr) was because the 8" woofers -as always - need refoaming.
And -worst of all - the seller had changed the 10" woofers to some unoriginal. And HE HAD THROWN THE ORIGINAL ONES OUT!!! Super Angry <img src=" />

Well - apart from that, the cabinets are looking good. I have already given the 8" woofers new surrounds -in rubber. (I will post some Pictures in another thread). They sound good - but ofcourse I would like to have had the original 10" woofers.

I use them with a Beomaster 4000 that has just been recapped with a set from Martin(dillen). I bought this set of caps from Martin a few years ago - but have now finally got the BM renovated by a friend. Sounds great Smile

You're so right. It is quite interesting to see how different sellers behave... some just keep relisting at the same price, even though they have had no luck for half a year or more. And they will not lower the price. While others lower the price if the item is not sold within a week or two.
This way I got a cheap Beovision 6-22 a few months ago. It was not an auction, but a sales-site. The seller started on 1000 DkKr - i marked the ad as favourite. Then next week it was down to 800 DkKr. I didn't have time to pick it up then  - but then the next week the price was lowered to 600 DkKr... Then I called the seller immediately  Big Smile

I hope you will find a nice pair of 150's for a good Price, Jeff. Yes - thumbs up

Hi Steffen,

Purchasing anything used, whether it be a house, car, furniture, or vintage stereo gear is always an adventure. Always!

And planning doesn’t help. My worst misadventures where I got burnt to a crisp were where I had researched and researched, checked, double-checked, and then checked everything for a third time….. and BAM.

An excellent example, when I was looking for my first (replacement) 4000 series turntable I spent months in search of the “perfect deal.” Oh yes and I found it, a flawless 4002 being sold by an officer in the US Army, a perfectionist who insisted I purchase his Beomaster 2400 to get the flawless 4002. So I did.

Well perfect it was however Mr. Perfectionist who assured me he (and only he) knew just how to package the 4002 for shipment didn’t have a clue. The platter got loose mid-shipment and bounced around all the way from Alabama to British Columbia. It wasn’t pretty.

But wait, it gets worse, Customs Canada thought the 4002 was a bomb (no kidding) and attacked the box as if it were. I saved the remains of the box with the yellow tape and notice of “suspected bomb” as a souvenir.

So much for my detailed planning and carful selection of a seller.

At the same time I purchased a 4004 (for reasons unimportant to this story) and it was from a guy in Arizona who found it in a church rummage sale. Didn’t know the first thing about it, photographed it with the platter upside-down, stuck it in an over-sized box and shipped it.

No planning and a completely uneducated seller and the 4004 arrived perfect and has never ever needed an adjustment.

So in the end you never know and that’s why it is such an adventure.

At least you can make your “cheap” MS150 purchase work out.

When I find a pair I will certainly let everyone know….. the Beovirus is still working!

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and recently I bought two Beomaster 1000, one with white keys and the other with black keys.

I'm going to do a little revision and restoration. Is it possible to recover the photos of this great post?

They are linked to:

http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd413/mexnielsen/Photobucket%20Desktop%20-%20SOREN-HP/B%20_%20O/BM%201000/P1010689.jpg

Could they be placed again on this or another site?

Thanks a lot!
