Don't have a wife. That's an easier solution
If these speakers live up to the rumoured specifications then they will rearrange the furniture themselves.
Wife or no wife.

Roger: The new flagship speaker is now shown to some dealers - in its final design. They appear larger than the BL5, but not as tall as, say, the BL18. It also looks like they have a very large number of speakers, covering 360 deg and maybe leaving ALT all together. They do look like something that is hard to describe with words, very different to the current BL5. The final price and release date are still not known (to met), but the guesstimates given are in the same ballpark: late this fall and 40-50k $/€/£. Roger

'covering 360 deg'....
Do we need two of them, then - or is one sufficient
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV

Does anyone have any further news on the flagship speaker please?

Let's interpret the silence on this topic as a positive sign that "something big" is "something near". My closest dealer in Ruislip sadly closed down so nowhere close by to pop in for a fan chat and a little dig for news...
Loudspeakers in this price tag need a decent musicsystem.
maybe there is a high-end music system also in the pipeline.

Are you assuming, that the former and current audio systems (including BSys4-based products) aren't 'decent'?

Sound output surely isn't.Moment is better than BS4 but still not suitable for a real high-end speaker.
LOL. Another yearly meeting of the "BeoLab 5 Replacement" roundtable crew I see.
A 50k Bang and Olufsen speaker is going to be about as successful as this 80k (!!!) monstrosity recently introduced by Martin Logan...
http://www.cnet.com/news/this-high-end-speaker-costs-the-same-as-a-mercedes-benz-cls/
Hint: I've seen and heard them. They're hideous, they're enormous, the paint quality is horrible and the sound does not merit the price. Not remotely so.
But nevertheless, all this hype will only help me get BeoLab 5s for resale even cheaper :D I can't imagine B&O is even selling any of THOSE anymore given that I can sit on a pair at way less than half the retail price for a few months (which I happily enjoy) and few people even inquire about them, even in one of the few cities left in this country where a B&O boutique is actually available. And while I love the BL5 dearly, it's still not in the league of classic products like the Beocenter 9500 and Beolab Penta III and Beolink 7000. That B&O will never likely return, no matter what ridiculous price they put on anything. Making things expensive doesn't make them awe inspiring. Price does not equal performance.
Guess who is actually making a tangible announcement today (supposedly)... The "other" B brand, Bowers and Wilkins and the world class 800 Series which I also thoroughly enjoy. Meridian hasn't announced anything worthwhile in the powered speaker space in YEARS and some would argue the DSP8000 is better than the BL5. B&O are not in a position to be playing with 50k toys right now but I guess they want their own "Nautilus". The mid-tier lineup is in desperate need of re-invigoration, that's where their focus should be. Perhaps their intent, one can hope, is to show off an entirely new speaker philosophy in this 50k thing, and finally introduce new blood for the mid-range line above Play. But I'll really laugh if these new toys are made outside of Denmark.
The fact is, that we still know very little about these speakers...
....and therefore start to speculate.
Millemissen: The fact is, that we still know very little about these speakers... ....and therefore start to speculate. MM
Indeed.
I actually do believe something is coming now :P. There is just too much hint dropping going on now, or the pace has picked up by Lee and others confirming in other threads.
I just don't know that doubling the price of the speaker that already doesn't sell (and maybe that pricing detail is being overblown, we don't know) is the right solution. Rather than staying at the current BL5 price point and really creating a statement that way (and in what world is $25,000.00 not ALREADY a sufficiently "statement inducing" price? It works for the 800 Diamond!). An enormous price tag will grab attention initially, but will result in extreme criticism if the product doesn't live up to such a price point. And I'm sorry to say, that most halo speakers don't. Even B&W's Nautilus is fairly widely recognized anymore as being more of a work of art, rather than exceeding the sound quality of the latest 800 Diamond which costs less than half its price.
As these threads always end up saying... we will see.
I guess some more information will start to find its way onto these pages after the Dealer Meeting in Budapest.
....,which is soon.
I can confirm that a new speaker will be released soon. And I think that it will be extremely good even at the 50k price point. Lets wait and see Im afraid I cant afford them but I will listen to them as soon as they are released.
Its a totally new concept, no ALT but more DSP inside. I also guess that BL5 will still be in production.
I look froward to hearing them whatever they are but wonder how easy that will be. It will be interesting to see how many dealers can afford to have them in store. I suspect some smaller dealers won't. It's an expensive piece of demo equipment.
I do however applaud B&O for what appears (pre-launch) to be a very bold development. I believe it could be an extremely effective way of reinforcing B&Os high-end credentials to balance the effects of the increasing importance and prominence of the Play brand.

I've written it before - those, who have been following the latest articles on the Geoff Martin blog, might have an idea of what/some of what is coming.
Thats right. Cant wait....
Not for that kind of loudspeakers mm

Means?
You know it already.
You are getting anoying!
For those who haven't read it already:

I still wonder what was behind that curtain... Blind tests are tricky, and the author of the article writes that he thought it had to be something big. However, he tried to conceal his excitement, just in case it turned out to be something BL17-sized. :-)
The article/review is in Norwegian. Hopefully google translate can be helpful for those of you not from Scandinavia.

I am sorry, if my (different) view on some matters annoys you - but I can't help it.
Play nice, guys. Sometimes I feel bad for being negative but you guys call each other right out! :P

Disagreeing is not a bad thing.
Not accepting that we may disagree however, is not usefull.
This thread is about a coming speakers, that we know ptretty little of by now.
Some people seem to have their own ideas of, what they 'will be'. (I.e. too good for current B&O audiosystems/a real high-end speaker...)
I - for my part - would rather wait for seeing/hearing them in the flesh, or for a post from someone, who actually saw/heard them in action.
Well, I am even more excited and inquisitive than ever. After spending too much time over the last couple of years reading as much as I can about hifi, pro audio and the audiophile world it seems that speaker and room interaction is by far one the biggest problems facing 'sound quality'. There have been some developments by Trinnov, Illusonic, PSI, Driac, Bruno Putzey with KiiAudio and a few others to address with the use of DSP to mitigate the reflected and reverberant sounds esp. below 300Hz in the home environment. I wonder what B&O are bringing to the table and am impressed that they launched themselves into the mix to bring solutions unlike other makers of 'audiophile' speakers that cost the earth who have almost abandoned the use of any science and testing relying solely on their 'golden ears'. If B&O bring further advancement in this field of acoustic engineering, hats off to them. How many speaker manufacturers still invest in a large and costly anechoic chamber and acoustic engineers. I just hope I can afford them, if they are the way I decide to go.
I do hope this speaker delivers, and I am dying to hear them.It will have to be some setup to replace my linn klimax exakt setup, perfectly tuned with space optimisation + in my room.I cannot believe music enjoyment could be any better.
When's the dealer conference?
Today B&O on Instagram posted this picture with the same text as on FaceBook the other day.
