Hello there. I own a Beosound 5 / Beomaster 5 since a year.
I think that for a high-class, expensive product like this, some details should be improved; any of these are as following:
1 - Swithchin' on the device, and selecting "net music" the music starts suddenly with the pre-defined volume. I think it would be more elegant if the sound would start very low, increasing little by little, until reaching the pre-defined volume.
2 - When you select "net music" directly on the device, the music start playing, with the last song played in the previous time. In my opinion, it would be better to have the possibility to select the song/album to listen to, before the music stars playing. (now this is possible only if you command the device through an Ipad)
3 - when you need to select an album (or a song), you need to rotate the aluminium wheel, until the display shows what are you looking for. If you stored a lot of musical files in the Beomaster 5 (that's my case), you need to rotate the wheel more and more and more..... In my opinion it would be more comfortabe to add a command that makes the user select before the first letter of the album, then the album title.
The three above are just the first three possibilities I have in my mind now, but I have found some more....
In my opinion, B&O launched this product without refining some important details, and still now, years after its launch, nothing has been changed.
It's a pity, 'cause you can not realize these little lacks, until you have installed the device in your house.....
Only 4 playlist, no genre button, etc etc
The BS/BM5 is mainly a 'MOTS machine' with a built-in netradio!
It does not need to be improved....
.....it needs to be replaced - if you won't accept that as a fact.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
replaced with what?
What I meant is, that you will have to take the BM/BS5 for what it is.
If you wan't something else/want it to do something else, you need a different device/a different solution.
Whether the BS Moment will be that device, I don't know.
The most issues are software related,so it must be that difficult?
There will be a major up-date i've been told.
I can hardly believe it - but it would be nice, if it is right!
Question is - what kind of update?
i don't know.
I think that most of those suggestions are perfectly reasonable - with the exception of having the BeoSound 5 be a touchscreen. I can see the reasoning of why B&O did not want to use a touchscreen. My iPad is always covered with fingerprints. I actually like that my BeoSound 5 screen stays clean.
Most of those suggestions are merely refinements, which should have been released with updates to improve upon the BeoSound 5 based on user experiences. I completely agree with the need for scrolling to present the first letter first to save time. This was done with the Encore, and I'm really surprised that B&O hasn't passed this feature on to the flagship BeoSound 5. Adding a genre category would be a very simple matter. So would improving upon the playlist options.
I finally gave up on waiting for B&O to add Apple Lossless. Tired of working with two different libraries when using WMA Lossless, I just deleted all of my library, including (ESPECIALLY!) the WMA Lossless files. I used iTunes Match to rebuild my entire music library using files from the iTunes store that are all iTunes store quality. This was very easy to do and created consistency throughout my library.
Point 3 is already available : when you turn the wheel very quickly in any mode that is NOT covers, you get a letter list, where you can choose the first letter of the album/artist/song. As easy as on a iPod with wheel!

1: Cleaning helps - and is actually quite easy 😉
2: Not everyone would trade 'lossless files' for 'files from the iTunes store'.
