Bang & Olufsen published their first quarter 2014/2015 report on 10/2. The report showed good results for most all business areas except a large drop in automobile section. The automobile section dropped 23% in the quarter.
The stock price has dropped significantly erasing all the gains of this year. The stock is currently at the level seen in January of 2014.
is the automobile drop temporary or the start of a trend?
I am planning on ordering a new 5 series in the spring but find the B&O sound system add on cost of $4500.00 extra unreasonable. Is it really worth 7% of the cars total cost?
4500 does seem a lot. I have an Audi A5 and the B&O speaker upgrade was around £500. Fantastic sound and very affordable. Not sure why there is such a difference.
Hi Expoman ,
I have the A3 Sedan and the speaker system was £750 from B&O. The A6 though costs nearly £5000. The reason for the big price hike is that the A6 has motorised ALT speakers in the dash along with further upgraded parts. I have a feeling the the BMW 5 series must also have the ALT technology!
The B&O 14 speaker system in the A3 sedan is very pleasant!
Aussie Michael:Well I was surprised that newer Mercedes Benz now have a burmester option rather than a B&O option. This could also be why

There are no motorized Alt speakers in the BMW 550 or 535.
Oh well, I can't explain that price! BMW 550! WOW do they still make gas guzzlers in 2014! The Audi is only a 1.4 litre engine :)
