Anyone heard of these before?

//Bo.A long list...
What makes you think, it's suspect ?
Martin
Being from Soundsmith, I'd say these are a bit odd and somewhat cheap'ish looking, perhaps...Check those MMC20xx cartridges, MMC1-5 inside a plastic MMC20 adaptor.. :

Could be interesting to try the Tonar ones.
I don't think
http://www.pickupnaalden.com/
and
http://www.pickupnaalden-shop.nl/
are the same.
OK, forget what I insinuated, they are most likely OK.
Just on time Bo. So you can buy these in Holland as well even for repair on needles. Have to check...
Just gave them a link to this thread to see what they have to say.
Brengen & Ophalen
Here is my SMMC4
And here the one from pickupnaalden
The black plastic cover is a bit different, and the label looks cheaper, comes to it, the prices, I think I will stay with Axel
Martin is right about the funny looking MMC20xx. And all of them you can use for albums and singles (maybe they dont work for EPs) But I dont think they are bogus.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
There were lots of copycats in the 1960s and 70s.Several producers made replacements for the round SP pickup cartridges and,let it be said right away, they were very different...Some were actually surprisingly good but there were also some that were...err.. not.Unfortunately, far from all put their brand name on the cartridges.
If a Beoworld member tried the Tonar cartridges, do let us know the results.
Hi Guys,
I am Fred, the owner of pickupnaalden.com.I do not know what you suggest and why, but these are genuine Soundsmith cartridges,we buy them directly from Soundsmith USA.
Bye the way... We also sell the Tonars, They are axactly the same,
these come from Soundsmith to......
Hi Fred and welcome to Beoworld.
I don't think anyone is trying to suggest anything untoward. I suspect the OP found the 'pickupnaalden' sites and hadn't come across them before - I certainly hadn't but now I'm aware of them, you of course have received some free exposure/advertising as people will check out the sites.
Dave.
Welcome Fred, at least we hear the stories from two sides now! Good luck with your business!

Thanks for the replies guys.
We have tried for a long time to become a dealer for the Soundsmith cartridges,
and we are glad we have reached an agreement with Soundsmith.
i think we are the only one in the Netherlands, and maybe in europe who have the complete range of MMC's in stock,
not only the "cheap" ones, but also the MMC1 and 20CL.
So, if someone suggests we sell things that may be copies or anything other we advertise, i get a litlle angry,
we have a very good reputation, which we will never risk for a few euro's.
the only thing else i have to say.... Enjoy the music!
Well said Fred! Hope we do business soon!
pickupnaalden:i think we are the only one in the Netherlands, and maybe in europe who have the complete range of MMC's in stock,
Welcome to the forum Fred, and as you have the cartridges in stock, so much more. Soundsmith has long delivery times, Axel has long delivery times for repair.
Thank you Søren,
there are a lot of B&O enthousiast in Holland who still use there turntable,
and the only cartridge available overhere was the MMC4 from Tonar,
that is why we tried to get the Soundsmith dealership.
we always try to offer as much possiblities to our customers,
so we offer both the Soundsmith and the Tonar verslons.
Fred Caris: Bye the way... We also sell the Tonars, They are axactly the same, these come from Soundsmith to......
Ah ok, so Soundsmith makes the MMC4E for Tonar and it's identical to the Soundsmith MMC4? That explains why the MMC4E is much more expensive than "normal" Tonar cartridges.
(Tonar is a company that wsells replacement needles for many manufacturers)
Correct, Tonar MMC4E = Soundsmith SMMC4
And i do not think these cartridges are expensive,
You may say it is a lot of money, but if you compare the quality to cartridges from other makes, you will find out that these are in the same price range for the same quality.
I do not have a B&O turntable, so i tried the MMC1 (with 1/2 inch mount adapter) in my SME III arm,
and i must say... they sound realy great!
