Hi,

in my bedroom I have a TV connected to a pair of Beolabs using the PC input on a Beolink Active. I would now like to have the sound from the TV in another room.

I was thinking of using either a Beolab 2000 or Beolab 3500 which I would connect through a Masterlink junction box. However, I wonder if it is possible to activate the PC input from the Beolab 2000 / 3500?

Best regards,

Martin

My B&O products: Beosound 9000, Beosound 2300, Beosound Century, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 4000 x2, Beolab 3500, Beolab 2000, Beolab 10, Beolink Active x2, Beotime, Beo5 x2, Beo4, A9 keyring x2, LC2 dimmer x6 and growing....

The Beolink Active is master linked to a Beosound 2300 (through a 1611 SW1.3 converter ) but the Beosound does not respond to either the PC or L-PC commands from the Beo4.

Could it be any other command:

(I also guess that the PC command was not existing when the Beosound 2300 was manufactured so that could be the reason)

Keep answering my own thread...

I guess one possibility would be to actually take the sound directly from the TV (through the headphone jacket) and run it into a Beolink converter which is then master linked to the Beolab 200/3500 (the Beolink Active is connected to the TV through the headphone jacket so I would need a 3.5mm splitter). Then it should be possible to get the sound through the AUX command.

However, I would also like to use this speaker for music from the Beosound (which have an Apple TV connected for Airplay). Hence, I would need to connect the Beolab 2000 also to my existing master link network. However, in my existing setup, Airplay is activated by the AUX command as well - i.e. this is where it gets confusing - would it then not be a conflict between Airplay and sound from the TV in this network?

(Last resort could be to use the spare Beolink Active kit I have and use some other Beolabs)

The PC input of the Beolink active is only local and it (the PC input) cannot be distributed from that Active unit to any other / across ML unfortunately.

Thanks for the answer, I realized the same when I read some more about it last night.

However, could a feasible solution be to do the following:
1. Split the headphone jacket from the TV
2. Connect one of the "splits" to the Beolink Active
3. Connect the other "split" to a Beolink Converter
4. Connect the Beolink Converter through Master Link to the Beolab 2000

In this setup, I should be able to get the sound through the TV through the AUX command.

Then, I would also like to integrate the Beolab 2000 to the existing network where the AUX command is used for Airplay. For this, I think that the following would theoretically possible:
1. Split the masterlink cable between the Beolink converter and the Beolab 2000 with a junction box.
2. Connect that junction box to a junction box in my existing network
3. Avoid using both the TV and streaming to Airplay at the same time?

Would this work?

(I would really like to use the Beolab 2000, however I have a spare Beolink Active which I could use to connect another pair of Beolabs - it should be easily done by just splitting the headphone jacket and have one cable to each Beolink active)

My B&O products: Beosound 9000, Beosound 2300, Beosound Century, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 4000 x2, Beolab 3500, Beolab 2000, Beolab 10, Beolink Active x2, Beotime, Beo5 x2, Beo4, A9 keyring x2, LC2 dimmer x6 and growing....

However, could a feasible solution be to do the following:
1. Split the headphone jacket from the TV

- should work..
2. Connect one of the "splits" to the Beolink Active

- for local use via PC command...
3. Connect the other "split" to a Beolink Converter

- Why not connect it directly to AUX input of your BC2300? You will need a special DIN cable to separate input/output-datalink for the connected Beolink converter... maybe Steve at Sounds Heavenly can provide such a cable...?

4. Connect the Beolink Converter through Master Link to the Beolab 2000

-yes.

In this setup, I should be able to get the sound through the TV through the AUX command.

- Your Beolink active SW1.3 doesn`t support A.AUX, but it be possible to use A.MEM (A.TAPE) or PHONO (N.RADIO) to open the AUX port via Masterlink.

Then, I would also like to integrate the Beolab 2000 to the existing network where the AUX command is used for Airplay. For this, I think that the following would theoretically possible:
1. Split the masterlink cable between the Beolink converter and the Beolab 2000 with a junction box.

- not necessary.
2. Connect that junction box to a junction box in my existing network

- Only necessary to connect your BL active and your BL2000 to the BL converter connected to your BC2300.
3. Avoid using both the TV and streaming to Airplay at the same time?

- not necessary  - maybe this little funny device can help:

http://shop.oneremote.dk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3494

-You can connect max. three audio products to this expander and control them via (for example) A.MEM1, A.MEM2, A.MEM3. This expander has its own ir receiver, so it can NOT be controled via ML, but it would be interesting to know, whether the ir plug can be directly connected to datalink pin of the AUX socket. If this will work, you should be able to control the expander via ML....:)

The Beolink Active is master linked to a Beosound 2300 (through a 1611 SW1.3 converter ) but the Beosound does not respond to either the PC or L-PC commands from the Beo4.

- might be two reasons: your BC2300 (btw: is it the old two-way model?) is set to A.OPT 1, so it won`t respond to video commands (PC is a video product in Beo sense). You have to set your 2300 to A.OPT2 or try AV - PC.

-2nd BC2300 is just too old and won`t detect the "new" PC command (did you try SHIFT - STORE ?). In any cas it will NOT open the PC input of your BL active.

- I`d just connect the TV output (btw: a fixed line level output should work better than a headphone output...) to AUX input of your BC2300 and the reroute the sound to BL active if you want TV sound in your bedroom. Might avoid hiss and hum...(?)

Hope this helps

Stefan
