I Purchased a Beomaster 6500, along with all the other 6500 components in 1989. This system has given me wonderful service till recently. last October I moved house and set up the system as always. It worked perfectly until a few weeks back. It then started to just stop playing after about an hour. It needed to be switched off and on to get it to play again. Now it will not switch on at all. I have contacted my local B&O agent here in France, and they tell me the system is not supported for service any more. Can anybody tell if this is correct? Or does anybody have any idea what the problem is? It may be that I can carry out the repair myself. Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to loose this wonderful system. Thanks
Welcome to Beoworld.
Yes it is true B&O does not care for old products and take some money upfront before telling you that in person.
The problem can be many things but the Beomaster powersupply might be the case or bad soldering needs to be checked?
I think the 6500 tech manual is on site with the upgrade to silver and support the forum as well.
For tech advice find Dillen here. He is the go to guy when it comes to old B&O and has done 2 complete service on Beosystem 6500 for me alone.
