unfortunately most chairmans who get fired end up working again as chairmans...... it would be good to see companies allowing customers to on-line vote their thoughts on their senior staff rather than asking for information on trivial matters...
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
Do your job well and you will get promoted.Do this new job well too and you will get promoted again.Do it well again and you will once again climb a step.Eventually, you will reach a point where you lack the skills needed to do the job well. You will then no longer get promoted. But you won't get backed down to the previous level either. You will just stay where you got to, at a level where you don't fit perfectly in.
This way the company will end up with staff all in positions they don't fit particularly well.

Too true,
The next step is the people who have reached beyond their skill level are the ones that get to fire the people below who can still do their job and haven't reached their position of incompetence yet.
