Beocenter 7000 subwoofer enquiry

Hi all I have a 1980 Beocenter 7000 and I would like to add a subwoofer. I have seen one in Amazon its an active one with High level inputs and outputs, could I connect to these using the Speaker 2 sockets on the stereo? If not how else could I do this. Hope this makes sense?? Cheers Phil.
