I recently bought a Beocom 2000. I have tried to change the battery but I was unable to open the battery compartment. Is there an easy way to open it? The instruction says nothing about it which makes me wonder what is wrong with me as I have tried to open it approx. 30 minutes without success.

The second question might be related to the battery. The loudspeaker does not work. Does it need a battery to work or is the battery only necessary for storing the numbers in the memory?

Please help.

If it's the same mechanism as for the BC1000, it is a tight fit to get the battery cover off.  Use a wide flat blade (like a screwdriver) and lever it upwards, it will go and it goes with a 'snap' sound.  Even more so when you put it back in.  Disconnect from everything it's connected to before you take the battery out.  You cannot just do it with your fingers!

Dave.

On mine, there is a sloped recess just under the 'catch' of the cover with a tiny plastic tag sticking out.  I levered with the blade flat in that recess and under the tag.  Use the edge of the recess as a fulcrum point.  Hopefully it should go OK.

Dave.
