How are you (BL14.2,1/4.1 users with a BV) using your setup, when you listen to music (a stereo source)?

Do you let the sub and the (front) satelites do the job?

Or do you use the tv speakers as well - do the BL14's need the support of the speakers in the BV to deliever a resonable sound?

Does anyone use a BL14.2.1 set with an AudioSystem?

Are you pleased with the (sat/sub) sound?

Still have mine 5.1 new in the box and never used it. About time to unpack it and give it a try.

Hi MM,

We have a setup with a projector and a surround receiver for the boys - with the BL 14 5.1. It is impressive at this price point, but I must admit that with BL8k, BL4k, BL9 and BL5 in other rooms it is not that impressive for music.

Currently the BL 14 2.1 sells for approx 15.000 kroner here, and the new S8 (which can only be a 2.1 system, no surround processor) will be priced at 9.995 kroner (sannsynligvis lavere i Danmark pga vekslingskursen). If you listen to music and take this price into consideration... well, then I would recommend it. The S8 sub comes in black plastic, not white - and looks even better.

For movies and games, the BL 14 5.1 does a decent job - even compared to the BL4k (cinema center) / BL7.6 (tv center) and BL5 (front) and BL9 (rear) setup given the price point of the systems. But for music: No. I would rather hunt down a pair of used BL9´s and not spend 25.000 kroner on a BL14 5.1 if music is the main use.

Hi MM

I use it actually only with my bl1 + bs5 for music, only the sub and I must admit it does the job.

Previously I used it in a 5.1 setup (sub and passiv rears).

I love it because you always find a way to use it and it never deceived me.

One of my best b&o purchase after the a3 :)

I plan to buy a pair of bl5 and I don't intend to sell the bl14 at all.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Thanks for that tip.

I think informations about this (the S8) was unknown on the forum untill now.

But - to me - it seems like a good decition from B&O to make a set like this.

One may wonder why this is part of the BeoPlay series (as I understand that it is).

Do you know anything about the connections?

Can the sub (as sub) and the satelites (as fronts) be connected to a BV, or will it be via one single connection?

Are the connections PowerLink's - or maybe just RCA's?

It might even in the end turn out to be a 'budget subwoofer' - if you let the satelites away Smile

----

To my initial question I did not post any 'opinions', because I wanted to hear from users/owners first.

My impression is that the 14.2.1 as a stereo set might be somewhat weak.

I imagine that most people would be temptet to run them with the BV speaker to have a more full/round sound...

....even if that would decrease the 'stereo perspective'.

Surely alright for 'easy listening', but not ok for more 'heavy listening'.

I suppose, that this set performs best with video sources (as 2.1 or - better - as 4.1) when connected to a BV.

Many people want 'one setup' for all - haven't got the room and/or the money for different setups for different purposes.

So you will have to consider these things, before buying.

Would be nice if one could test it at home, but (unfornately) you can't test ALL speakers at home.

More user-impressions are highly welcome.

I know i don't own a bv but I'm satisfied with how I've managed to implement the beolab 14s into my setup. They certainly don't have me wanting for more put it that way and that's just in the 2.1 configuration.

I guess that depends on where you are located.

My dealer (and many other shops, where you can find BeoPlay products) has it.

Costs in DK 8.995 dkr.
