Hello there. My question in order to know if anyone of you tried to use the Beosound 5 with a storage center connected with a Lan network.
I tired and I am having a lot of problems; essentially:
I provided to purchase a Iomega storage center (mod. ix2-dl), 'cause was the only one recommended by B&O to work with the Beosound 5.
Once connected the device to the LAN network, where the Beosound 5 was already connected with the Beoconnect, we realized that the Beosound 5 (who was working correctly with the data stored in the Beomaster 5), did not show the album covers.
The response of the B&O assistance, more and more solicited, was to wait for the new version of the iomega software.
We did so, and some months later, when we installed the new Iomega software, we had two results:
1 - we lost all the data stores in the iomega storage center, no obstain that Lenovo (who in the meantime acquired the Iomega firm) stated that the software update was not destructive;
2 - we were no more able to see with the Beosound 5 the content of the iomega storage center.
But that's not all, unfortunately.
Some days ago, I did not get to see the contents of the iomega data, not even through the PC; the PC saw the device, but not the data stored inside.
So I thave taken the device to the shop where I purchased it, asking for assistance.
The technician told me today that the operating system of the iomega device was corrupted, but the worst is that all the data stored in both HD (more than 1 Tbyte) are lost!!!!!!
Now he is trying to recuperate some files trough some dedicated software, but I don't know if he will be able to recuperate something; at the moment all the data contained in the HD are in RAW format.
At the end, after quite a year, I am using the Beosound 5 only with the Beomaster 5 (that, as you all would know, has just 1 Tbyte of capacity).
Hope someone had a better experience than myself; In any case I thank anyone who could help me to fix the problem.
Hello, now the problem is definitively fixed: I threw it away the Iomega nas and replaced it with a Qnap and it works great!
You all could understand that I was absoultely angry to have had not any assistance, nor by omega/lenovo, nor by the B&O, who recommended Iomega...
