Hi everyone.
I just joined this forum and look forward to being a member.
I recently sold a rather poor and mistreated Beocenter 2500 (the previous owner had done it wrong).
I've since borrowed a Beosound Ouverture/4000 to connect to my Beolab 2500's in order to enjoy music. But I must admit that I don't enjoy the sound it produces near as much as I enjoyed the sound of the Beocenter 2500.
As far as I can understand and have read, the Ouverture/4000 uses bitstream conversion, while the Beocenter 2500 uses 2x16 bit conversion.
Is this correct and if so, which DAC is used in the Beocenter 2500? I seem to remember that I read somewhere that it's the Philips tda1541a, but I haven't been able to find the post since.
Can anyone help? In would be greatly appreciated
Kind regards
Rasmus
I had a BeoSound 2300, 2500, and a 3200. Never thougt about it before today, but the BS3200 sounded much better than the others. Never did a real comparision tho..
Would be interesting to know about the different DAC´s in these units.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

Exactly! It would be great if someone could shed some light on the matter.
Hi
Have a look here :
http://www.dutchaudioclassics.nl/Overview-Philips-TDA1541-based-cdplayers/
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
The 2500 used a Philips TDA1541A DAC. The 3000 and probably the 3200 used a TDA1305T DAC. The 1541 is old school 16 bit and has its own fans. The 1305 is used in all sorts of players including the Naim CD5. I have a suspicion any differences are down to the surrounding electronics and general deterioration. Both are perfectly reasonable DACs and feature in top end CD players.

The service manuals have the relevant DAC information in them in the wiring diagrams just so you know!
Is the TDA1305T better than the TDA1541A?
It is newer...
Better is in the ear of the listener.
