Hi guys,

A relative has some MK I Beocom 6000s (US market) that have started "falling asleep".  After a few hours they'll simply turn off. Placing them in the charger base for a couple seconds will wake them up and they'll report that they still have plenty of battery charge left.

Any ideas of what might be going on here? They worked just fine before I gave them to her, and some time later most if not all four handsets have started doing this!

Hi Paul,

I hope you get an answer to this one as I had a similar experience with a MKII I recently bought.  That too 'fell asleep' on a charger that clearly was charging the set as the green light was previously on.  I noticed one day that the green light was off and thought the charger was dead.

I took it off the charger, removed the back and removed the battery.  I swapped the battery with one from another working handset but put the battery from the sleeping handset into the other handset.  I put them both on their original bases and they have worked perfectly ever since (now about 6 weeks).  I've bought replacement batteries as spares in case I have a problem again but so far - no problems.

Has anyone accidentally changed any standby settings?

Dave.
