Hi,
my current setup is a Beosystem 2500 which I use with a BG4500. I would like to connect an addtional AUX input (3.5 mm jack) and came across this cable on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUX-7-Pol-Y-Kabel-Splitter-fur-B-O-BANG-OLUFSEN-Adapter-Verteiler-BLITZVERSAND-/331268273862?pt=Stereoanlagen_DE&hash=item4d2120b6c6
My question: will this work as intended?
I'm thinking I will have to unscrew the DATALINK pins to avoid that the BG starts playing if I turn on the stereo to listen to MP3's from a phone or tablet.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Same difference from a trusted seller of B&O cables:
http://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/11--aux-y-7pin-.html with free shipping.
If in doubt, just give Steve at Sounds Heavenly a phonecall.
Dave.
Thank you very much for the tip, Dave! Marginally cheaper than the one I found, too
I've ordered one from soundsheavenly.com now, will report back once it is in place
Received my cable today and promptly installed it. It works exactly as intended but unfortunately also as I suspected.
DATALINK is in the way when two inputs are connected on the same channel. In order to avoid the BG4500 to start when turning on the BS2500 wanting to listen to music from a phone or tablet I had to unscrew the DATALINK pins on the record player. It makes the setup a little less smart but it's something I can live with.
EDIT: Double post. Sorry.
give it another try with the two datalink pins scewed in.
Set your BS 2500 to option '2'. you can then select TV, SAT, .. (videosources) to get the audiosignal via the AUX IN connector and your AUX Y-Splitter. But you are requesting video sources so that the BeoGramm keeps quiet and shouldn't start spinning.
To set your BS2500 to option 2 switch it to 'Standby' now press <SOUND> <1> <STORE> on a BL1000 or <A-OPT> <1> on a Beo 4.
Hope this helps

Excellent advice, Ralph-Marcus! I'll have time to try it in a few days. Can't wait
I have now tried and tried again but cannot for the life of me get the BS2500 to accept TV or SAT - so I guess it's not programmed to Option 2.
Would you mind walking me through the necessary sequence of buttons on a Beo4?
TIA
EDIT: Finally figured it out! WOrks exactly as you described. Thanks again for the advice
Sorry this was my fault !
It should be entered as this correct sequence:
To set your BS2500 to option 2 switch it to 'Standby' now press <SOUND> <2> <STORE> on a BL1000 or <A-OPT> <2> on a Beo 4.
Obviously you managed it
No harm done
Option 2 and pressing 1 did not compute for me but I didn't figure out the correct series of presses on the remote until after quite some tries.
Anyways, it's now set up just I wanted it
