Hello

bought a 2400 as a non working unit.

It's grubby as heck but underneath the grunge is a nice 2400 no damage.

What Im seeing is lights out, a little jumpy selecting program inputs but it seemed to settle down.

it does output sound but at a very low level. Im thinking it is muting it's self.

FM sounds very distorted, it trys to tune but cant tune in anything very well.

I did check the 15V TP and I see 15v so far so good, no hum.

Checking the tuner TP's and i get 4.21v and 2.9 so there is something amiss in the tuner section.

amplifier current draw is fine.

A guarantee is bulbs and caps. the sliders seem to be fine ! I hear definite changes and the balance seems to be a-ok.

Any suggestions on the tuner voltage adjustments ? following the instructions, but the higher of the voltages is almost 2 volts low.

Hi Bob,

from previous posts, I'd wait before diving in.  Replace the lamps with the correct ones (from member 'Dillen').  Faulty or incorrect lamps can give rise to all sorts of issues.  Also get the cap kit from him.  Then start to delve deeper.  I'm sure Martin or others with experience with the 2400 will chip in with some great advice.

Dave.

Bob:

Send me a PM if you're thinking of fixing this unit yourself.
