Hi

I noticed today that my BM7000 lost it's clock setting after a period of being away from power, however I also noticed it lost it again later when just in std.by ?

All my programming is still there, so it's just the clock that is getting lost.. Is the backup battey ONLY for the clock ?

And before I open it up, is this the same CR2450 battery as in the BM4500 ?

Hmm, checked the battery voltage in the BM7000 today, it is fine ??

De-soldered it to be able to measure correct, and then the BM lost all programming/clock/radio stations/sound..

This puzzles me a bit, since when the clock is lost, during std.by/power off then all other settings are still there..

Weebyx, is your BM7000 by any chance connected to a Beovision?

If so, it would obtain the clock info from the TV.

And if the TV had a clock problem, it might flow over to the BM7000.

Just a thought.

Nope, no tv connected...

I am suspecting either my beolink 5000 remote sending random codes, or the fact that I have been connecting a cd/beocord 4500?

have removed batteries from bl5000 and connected my cd 7000 only..

so now we will see :)

Hi all,

isn't there an internal battery in the Beomaster 7000 similar to what can be found in most PCs? Mine was leaking and needed replacement. Could that have to do anything with the problem?

Greetings,

Kai

It is a 2450 cell. When new, there should be 3,3V

The cell is ok till 3,0V... and this means, that it will still live for about 1-2 years. Under 3V it needs replacement.

There is the NV RAM, it is buffered by this Lithium cell. And the clock.

Replacing is not sooooo easy. The stored stations can be stored again, it's just Little work. But the parameters of the frequency Offset in the tuner section is lost and must be measured/calibrated again. This is not so easy. Without calibration the frequencies are mixed up...

It makes sense to use a small 3V powersupply parallel to the cell buffering the data. And then to unsolder/replace it...

Ok, this sounds strange :)

I removed (de-soldered it) without any problems what so ever, measured it, and it said 3V, when it was put back in, the unit lost all preset stations(except for 5?), all sound settings was reset, and it started out in AM for the tuner..

However, I could just perform a new search, and it found all the FM channels with RDS again ?

What do you mean by the calibration and mixed frequencies ?

But I will find a new battery and put in in th near future...

And while I am at it...

I will change the battery in my BM4500/BM3500 also, but they might have the frequency problem?

I know they will display CODE(My BM7000 didn't show anything) when loosing the RAM, but that can be fixed by 1-2-7-1 on the Beolink 1000 in Audio mode?

Could they get corrupted in the tuner frequencies ?

Have a look into the Service Manual of the BM7000. There is an Offset between the shown tuner frequency and the real tuner freqency.

It is necessary to use a known Station and the shown Display frequency to adjust the Display in the MCP. And this Offset is stored in the NV Ram.

If you dont adjust it, the Offset can cause a wrong Display. You want a Station with 90MHz and the Display Shows 90MHz and the tuner uses 88,5MHz... and will not tune in.

Ok, but if I tune to a known station at 92.9 MHz, and the tuner stops at that frequency and locks on, and the display shows 92.9 ?

Is everything ok then ?

I seem to have read somewhere that the BM7000 does not have this offset issue, but that 3500/4500 has ?
