And I'm still waiting for someone to post pictures of a BeoLab 18 in black composite. It seems that there are no photos of these anywhere.

Yes - the look great.
But my first impression - comparing them directly in 'my' shop - the wooden ones are superior.
The blacks do look cool, but a bit dull.
A matter of taste - I think!

I ordered the wooden version. I also like the black now I seen them. The wooden has a warmer look and feel I think.

I agree; the wood finish is quite special and although it was a little before my time, I have suddenly developed a real affection and desire for one of those Beomasters wrapped in wood!

When I see the black fronts I think by myself ''is this made in China?'', It looks not so robust and good as the excellent wooden front version..
The voice of singers that comes out this speakers is amazing ! (I never heard some audio speaker where the voice is so naturally that it is like you stay beside the singer ;) ) But you need a sub...
I am looking at a set to replace my 8000s and was waiting to see the black,but not sure now,will maybe wait for dark wood version.

In certain lighting, you can see pretty well what's behind the grille. Some might like it, some not so much. My Honeywell Air Cooling Tower looks way too similar to BL18 in this pic

Very nice, I actually think they are starting to grow on me despite the fact I like the previous versions better. As for sound, that's always been a strong point of the 8000's as well, they get the midrange right, something that's critical IMO for enjoyment of music. I would imagine these are at least as good with perhaps better treble from the ALT lenses. Female vocals are particularly seductive on them.

I love your setup! I am thinking about adding some B&O speakers to a Loewe Individual like you. One question though: Is it comfortable to have the sound of the TV only through your BL18?
1. in terms of usage. How do you control the sound of the TV? from the Loewe remote or from a B&O remote?
2. is the sound not too "spread out"? Is it not disturbing it's not coming from where the screen is?

I use a box from almando to connect the beosound encore and the loewe individual to the beolab 18. This works flawless. For tv sound the beolab 18 works fine. Speaking voices etc are coming straight from the middle.
