I have two Beomaster 4500 reciever, one with a good glass panel and one that has a working amplifier. When exchanging the glass panel I noticed two extra connectors on the glass panel print-board. The two extra connectors were from the IR unit. Dispite the same age and model the other panel did not have the extra connectors. Also on the IR unit are two extra connectors, one on top and one from the steel-box on the IR print-board.
Can somebody tell me what these extra leads are doing.
Could it be, that the one Beomaster is with 2way communication, and the other is not?
I think that the early models did not have 2way. Maybe they've upgraded to 2way within that year where your two Beomasters were manufactured.

Here is what the wires are for. It is not for the 2-way mode, all BM4500 can be updated to 2-way by SW 2.1 or 2.2. It is for better IR reception/transmition.

Improved IR transmit/receive facility (two-way communication) of Beomaster 4500 when the unit is hanging on the wall.Besides having an IR transmitter/receiver situated on the front panel the Beomaster 4500 has now been improved by the installation of an additional IR transmitter/receiver that operateds through the display glass. This additional IR transmitter/receiver has been introduced from serial no. 08682954.On a service basis the improvement can also be obtained by replacing the following components:- Operation PCB (module 06) 8001106- IR receiver PCB (module 05) 8001392- Display glass (pos. 9011) 3168782In units with a serial number higher than 08499834 it is not necessary to replace the display glass (pos. 9011)
