Beovision Avant display 4k/1080p

hi guys

Can any Avant owners help

i want to see what resolution the tv is playing at. I can see from going to sound info if it's Dolby digital or not but cannot find a picture info button to see if I'm watching 4k or 1080p???

 

 

have you tried the info button?

you will generally know from the source you are playing

if you're playing a bluray disc 1080p

if you're watching a 4k stream then 4k

To me this raises an interesting question - can you not tell merely by watching the screen?  If you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K, what's the point of 4K?  My god, I sound like 'Flappo'!.

There is some content on Netflix and YouTube which is 4K.  If you want to compare the picture quality on your set between formats, just try those.  As far as I'm aware, there isn't much/any 4K TV output apart from streamed services so 1080p will be the norm.  I'm not sure why you want to 'see' what the output is?  Michael has just got his Avant 55 so follow his advice on the info.

I read the other day that Amazon is launching its film streaming service in 4K too. Very early in 2015 I believe!

There's a few 4K videos to download on Vimeo too and many of the GoPro channel videos on YouTube are in 4K.

 

Interestingly those YouTube 4k videos also play on BV11 - so that must mean that they are not 4k after all?

I believe YouTube always has lower resolution streams available for devices and connections that cannot show the maximum resolution.

I was wondering the same thing as Dave.

Buying a 4K-tv is not being an early adapter. It is being a premature adapter

Joking aside, can one tell the difference between 4k and 1080p or not?

As for todays 4K, I don't really know.

Please ask that question again, when the 4K bluray arrives (with native - not upscaled - material).

Or watch out for the new external UHD player, which surely will be showed at the CES very soon.

They can play - downloadable -  native 4K material.
