I know, this is probably a completely daft and silly question but ...is there somewhere a beo player for Mac?

i ve been told (not sure whether it is true or not )  that the one you can download from the B&O website is for windows only ....

Yes - BM-Link is what you need - it is on the B&O website, probably under downloads. If you google BM-Link, you can find it.

BM-Link requires a BeoPort - but there always was the option with BeoPlayer to run it simply as a desktop application to drive your PC's speakers.

So Bernie, are you looking for a BeoPort solution ?

This week I have been running Philippe's latest LinkPlayer version as my desktop music app .... so B&Oish:

He he, thanks!

LinkPlayer can be used as a standalone player without a Beoport (although I doubt it would really make sense). It can also be controlled from far with the Apple Remote. It can also be used on a Mac mini, connected to a TV without a Beoport and controlled by PUC.

I did indeed try my best to make it look B&Oish, by getting inspiration from older B&O products, by the use of a dot matrix font, and the possibility to change the font colour to match the different colours of display used by B&O. I also achieved it by keeping the interface sober and minimalist, and the use of black.

Going after a retro look also allowed me to keep things relatively simple in term of programming, but I am thinking of introducing an "electronic curtain" at some point ;-)

LinkRemote app on the iPad, looks like the full screen mode, but the bottom bit has been inspired by the Beocenter 9000, where the "buttons" are printed in white on the black glass.

The full screen mode look was inspired by the Beolink 7000 remote that I have at home, and that you can see on the right here:

I briefly mentioned LinkPlayer to the developer of the Beoport and he knew about it, which made me happy. If B&O wasn't in this remote part of the world, I wouldn't think twice before sending a CV. What a great bunch of guys.
