I guess this has been asked before, please accept my apologies in advance.
I have a pair of Beovox 5000 flat panel wall speakers running off a MCL small amp with standard speaker wire supplied by the nice people at Sounds Heavenly. No issues, happy camper, all sounds great.
However, I have taken the plunge into a Beomater 8000 which is being serviced/re-built as we speak.
My question is...
is there any need to invest in different speaker wire?, I always feel the black and grey seems a tad small but I dont want to be a fool and buy alternative wire if there really is no noticeable difference in the sound. I have moved on from the crazy hifi marketing of speaker wire and power cords since my introduction to B&O, but I was just wondering if there is a superior wire recommended by B&O fans.
Many thanks
Any cable you buy from Steve at Sounds Heavenly is more than enough for B&O applications. Steve understands the needs of his customers and supplies first rate products. I wouldn't go to anyone else. I don't believe you will notice any difference with alternatives.
Dave.
Absolutely agree with this. As Dave mentions, Steve's products are very good and I couldn't recommend the service highly enough,
Ben
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
The original speaker cables for Beovox speaker are 0.75 square mm. the ones for active speakers are even smaller, I have run my BL 8000 with 3 meter long 0.5 square mm cables from an Onkyo receiver without problems. As the wild Leo says any good copper cable will do. Dont buy into snake oil.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Just as I thought,
many thanks,
and I agree Sounds Heavenly have been great, supplied all my connections for turntable and ipod.
