I have done this to improve the poor TV sound, and it has been a great success. However, whether I put the A8 into sleep or deep sleep, it goes off and then comes back on again. If I put it to sleep again, it stays off

Not disastrous, just irritating. Any thoughts?

The auto sense in the A8 is picking up something via that input. Unplug the RCA cables, if the A8 sleeps and stays that way then it's safe to say the Samsung is bleeding low audio output to the A8 or possibly not shielded enough cables are being used. There isn't a sensitivity adjust for that input on that device if I recall.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
