Dear members,
I know that this is probably a silly question, but how do you clean the stylus on a Beogram 4000? Do you have to remove the cartridge from the tonearm for cleaning it? If not, how do you do it?

For normal stylus cleaning, I leave the cartridge on the tonearm. To clean - I cut a small rectangular piece of Magic Eraser material and place under the stylus. Then I dip the tonearm straight down onto the Magic Eraser material a couple of times. That will remove any dirt and residue. Note: Never move the Magic Eraser pad in a horizontal direction with the stylus inserted.If the cantilever and stylus are really dirty, I will remove the cartridge and clean it with various cut pieces of Magic Eraser using the help of a magnifying glass.
Here is a picture of how I clean my MMC 20CL cartridge on one of my Beogram 4002 turntables.
On the whole, I use the brush that comes with the cartridge.

I used to remove my cartridge and clean it for years, but I have read that some people have had the tone arm clips that attach the cartridge to the arm break off from removing the cartridge repeatedly so don't remove mine any longer? I use the method described by Sonavor.

Hi everyone and thanks for contributing. That's exactly what I am concerned about. I had a Beogram 4000 with a broken cartridge holder, which is very hard and expensive to fix. Therefore, I don't feel comfortable with removing the cartridge for cleaning purposes.
@ Peter: how do you do this? I don't get beneath the cartridge with the brush when the cartridge is still mounted. Therefore, it's hard to use the brush, isn't it? How do you do that? Push the tonearm upwards?
@ Sonavor: Do you moisten the Magic Eraser before doing this?

Hi, I use the magic eraser as well, I followed the advice of the guys on here and also a good YouTube video , the important thing is to buy the plain one, some have soap or chemicals impregnated and you don't want that one
dont wet it, just place it under the stylus and either lower it a few times or push it up if you can't lower, I also just put a little pressure with my finger on the stylus to ensure it goes well into the eraser
its amazing what comes of , you can see this left on the eraser, have a look on YouTube and see it in action
I hold the arm and pull the brush from the the rear forwards - I do this a few times and it seems to clean the stylus nicely. The MMC6000 used to need cleaning every play!
