All,

I am planning the building of a new house. This gives great opportunities to put the right cabling in place.

I am not looking for a full multi-room or home automation cabling set-up, but still have a few questions on how to prepare the cabling. Who can help me with some advice as I am a relatively new B&O user.

Situation:

I have a beoplay v1 that I use as media center, connected to a NAS.
The beoplay V1 is connected to 2x beolab3 and to an AppleTV
Beoplay A2 in the kitchen
Old school, (currently) unconnected beogram player (believe beogram 5000)

few questions:

1. Type of cables
Is a set up with UTP CAT 5.B enough  or does it need to be CAT 6 or even CAT7? Why is shielding so important?

2. Built in wall connectors
Any requirements for the wall sockets or would standard RJ45 connector do?

3. Proposed wiring scheme
TV: power + RJ45 wiring to connect to main router + 2x RJ45 to both beolab 3's
Speakers: I want to use a wall mounted speaker set up. So will need at that height a power and a RJ45 connector + a NL to ML adapter to connect the beolabs
NAS: connected directly to the router in the technical room

4.  What additional wiring would I need if I want to connect
a) the old beogram (is that possible or do I need a master gateway?)
b) a beosound moment or essence later?
c) new surround speakers at a later stage (e.g. beolab 12.2 or a beolab 11)

5. What are suggested music systems.
I can use the V1 for all music functions (connected to NAS) , so probably the addition of a playmaker or a beomusic essence is limited.
Of course the beosound moment adds the mood play functionality, but >2000 euro for that functionality seems a lot (I don't think I can connect the beogram to the beosound moment).
Any advise or suggestions on how to optimize music functionality in the living room?

Many thanks for your input. I have read a lot on this forum lately and was inspired by the B&O products even more than I already was.
After visiting the Struer office and production line, the dedication to perfection of the employees created a huge respect for this brand.
