I just finished re capping this 8000 and and amazingly it worked afterward-all but one button.

The REVERSE > >> button on the keyboard is dead.  The FORWARD << < button raises the tonearm, blinks the red led and travels inward. Now this died after 2 days of mechanical assurance testing. (It has no stylus at this point so I can't play a recording)  I took the keyboard apart, tried ohming the photo diodes, they were identical and resembled checking a normal diode. Next, i re soldered the black grounding wire as mentioned in another post. The << < FWD button became active again but not so with the REVERSE > >>.

Since the REVERSE > >> button is the least important of the two, I will go ahead and try to obtain a cartridge. I looked at every 8000 post and only found 1 mention this electro mechanical switch.  Is there more to be said about its operation and failures?
