1500 type 5714 - options for new needle/cartridge

Hi,

I've been offered a Beogram 1550 (type 5714) but its lacking a needle for the MMC20s cartridge. I'm a bit new to this game, but I really like the deck so I'm wondering what the options are to get it working. 

From what I can find, a new cartridge is going to set me back £150 or more, which is unfortunately out of my price range. Am I missing any cheaper options? Am I right in thinking I can't just get a new needle with the MMC range? Are there other cartridges that could fit?

Hi,

You can send the broken mmc20s to axel in Germany and have him fit a new stylus and cantilever. He can fit any type of stylus you require. The 20S was originally a spherical stylus and not very good but you could have it upgraded to a 20E with an elliptical for about £100 or to a MMC20CL with a sapphire cantilever and a fine line stylus for about £179.
