The short answer is, you don't.
Normally all service can be done while the amplifier is inside the case, which actually doubles as cooling fin.
Taking off the bottom and the top will allow access to most parts.

thanks for that  but how can you see if there are any loose joints or test caps if you cant get in ,it must come out to be able to replace certain parts!

Maybe these pictures can help you to see how it looks like when the amp has been dismantled.

Generally speaking, you don't fault find or repair items by pulling everything apart! If for instance the amp is blowing fuses, you would put on a variac or use a bulb to limit current, then take measurements with a meter, which as Martin suggested above is easy enough with the bottom plate removed. I guess you checked the 40mA fuse?

Leslie I wasn't attacking you in any way! I am just saying it isn't the best way to do things and running the amp without heat sink is a big no no...

They were interesting pics I have never seen the board out like that despite loosing count of the number of pentas I have looked at lol!

Yes if the amp is showing a delayed fault it is likely the idle current that is out, if you tell people where you are then we can point you in the right direction.
