Can someone advise me if using the 1600 passive speakers is good enough for the for 5500 system?  I was thinking of upgrading to active speakers.  Any advice would be welcomed.  Thanks DF

Slightly odd combo to be honest. Beovox 1600 were designed with systems from the 1970s in mind. They are a good speaker though!

Also, your 5500 system does not have power link sockets so you will need an adaptor if you wanted to use active speakers with the 5500. The 6500/7000 do have power link however.

The BM5500 have line-out also, so you don't necessarily need a adapter. I am using my BM5500 with BL4000 without problems. (They don't turn off automatically, tho)
