Hello,

I'm owning a Beosystem 2500 for almost 25 years and I still love it. Despite of it's excellent quality, the mechanics sooner or later had to cause problems. For me it's the doors which close worse and worse as reported here a lot of times.
First advice is to clean and lubricate the door sliders. However, this almost didn't help anything for me.
Next advice is to change the driving belt. It's said here that it can be done (someone said here https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/11238/98224.aspx in even 15 minutes - which I doubt), but a detailed explanation cannot be found either here in this forum nor at YouTube of somewhere else.

Well, I ordered the belt for less than 10 EUR at Ebay, and yesterday I had the time to try it. To summarize it: I failed, but I documented the process with some pictures. Afterwards I came to the opinion, it could be done. And here is my description, how this could probably work. Hopefully someone else can profit from it.

Remove doors and left black cover as desribed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcrPJcZOwfg

Remove the back cover as described here https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/4707/42777.aspx#42777 (step 1).

Picture 1
In order to change the belt you have to separate the motor and the cog wheel machanism.
- Unscrew the printed circuit board 2 which is accessible from the front.
- Loosen the motor 3 by unscrewing screws 4.
- You probably don't have to unscrew the metal plate 1 which I did.
- now the one end of the belt is accessible

Picture 2
Now it comes to the critical part. You have to remove the cog wheel 1 in order to replace the belt.
Be carefully: if you make a mistake here, you must probably be a machanical genius to fix it.

Correction: it's not necessary to separate the cog wheel 1 and the disc 2 as described below. The cog wheel can be removed without unscrewing the disc. It should be enough space to remove the locking ring even with the disc on it. Thanks to the replyer who corrected me.

You need a second person for help. This person has to fix disc 2, and the wires around it while you unscrew it. If the wires get off the disc, it's game over.
Now remove the locking ring of cog wheel 1 and and remove the cog wheel by pulling it to the front.
Now you can replace the belt.
Insert the cog wheel 1 and fix the locking ring.
Hopefully the other person is still fixing disc 2 and the wire pulls are in their position. Now you can screw the disc again onto cog wheel 1. There is a notch which helps mounting the disc in the correct position.
If you are here and the wire pulls are still in their position, congratulations - this was the difficult part.
Put everything together and then hopefully your doors work again - which unfortunately I couldn't test for me anymore.

Good luck - comments welcome!

Hi,

You dont need to remove the wheel that old the wires! Just take out the locking clip that old the full group cog wheel+wire wheel, and pull it gently just enough to remove the belt. Pull it back in place just after that and proceed the same way again to put the new belt in.

This way, the cog stay on his axle and the wire wheel, stay flat on the cog wheel. The springs on the wire, will give you enough room to move.

Cheers.

You're probably right. You can even see on the picture that this should be possible. Thanks for correcting me.

After some hours I had the released wiring in it's place again. Now the door mechanism works again as expected.

It's just a plain lock ring which you have to slide to the side while paying attention that it doesn't jump away.
