just noticed that Peter Tyson have a Linn Majik turntable for sale at £2700, described as an introduction to vinyl.
If B&O were still producing turntables what would they cost? £3000? £4000? Would there be a market for a reintroduced tangential system?

Would be a waste of resource, they need to nail the killer digital audio source component before considering branching out into niche areas.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
Super interesting but I bet the R&D and start up costs will be huge for B&O but certainly the 1970s B&O turntables are pretty timeless. Maybe turntable design does not age, the Technics 1210 looks amazing today, in fact Pioneer have just launched their version of it in 2014 and again i believe this design dates back to 1971. Same for REGA and of course, oh my gosh the LINN Sondek SP12. Maybe it's like fashion were it goes around in circles. Whilst the majority of my TV watching is streamed, I still use a 20 year old Panasonic VHS video recorder and love it!!!
Only trouble is the people who work at B&O now are properly from a total different generation from the B&O of the 1970s :) certainly a Beogram 4002 would maybe look amazing if produced today. Who would buy it? I'm not sure as the DJ crowd obviously couldn't DJ from it. But very nice anyway.
Well it could be interesting if B&O would ever have a product line for the still record playing market as many would properly take them up on it.
They have always served the latest technology and dropped like everyone else the older ways of doing mediums but now we have niche markets for the older Beograms and Beocords as they when working right still sound amazing.
Records are not going to die and cassette well time will tell.
