Evening Chaps - Happy Wednesday©Smile

Tonight I want to hear about dodgy DIY fixes or bodges, either your own or something you have seen elsewhere.

Do you have shelves held up with sticky tape or doors that only shut if you lift them on their hinges? Maybe you know someone who has a fence where no two pieces of wood are the same  length or their garden chair is held together with twine?

What's the worst DIY job you've ever done/seen?

Remember the Wedrools©, no tech talk, over to you ...................................

I carried out what my wife would describe as bush carpentry on her beloved Fiat Multipla at the weekend. I disabled the electric window regulator on the front door in order to get it to go up after it failed. I then used a piece of bamboo to prevent it dropping into the door. Pretty weird when you've owned a car since it was shiny and respectable to be doing this to it but she takes delivery of a new Ford Kuga at the weekend.

OK, but a true bodge would have been a screw through the door frame into the glass!Big Smile

There is a whole internet full of galleries of third world bodges!

At a personal level of incompetency I gave up early on Big Smile based on well intentioned failures !

My wife and I went on holidays and had to sleep in the car. While sleeping on the seats she broke the gas pedal. I fixed it in the morning with two screws from the casing/panneling of the trunk and a clothes line.

Speaking of the third world, I had an uncle who managed to construct a shed/greenhouse out of pieces of wood no longer than 18" long. It sagged and bowed until it looked like something out of Harry Potter but it stood his whole life! A major feature of the design was  that you only had to slightly slacken one nail and the whole thing came down ready for clearing!Big Smile

Is it still like that?

I once tried to fill two mattresses with air from my car's exhaust pipe. First went ok, the second one melted Stick out tongue

Never do new stuff after 8 beers and 4 jäger-shots.

We spent the night half way on the mattress and half way on the ground Big Smile

I got the trip Darwin-award...

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
