Hi Everyone,

I am new to the Beoworld.  Always loved the old and new gear from afar but finally decided to take the plunge.

I bought myself an old Beogram 4004 Type 5526.  When I tried it out, I noticed that it could not keep true 33 1/3 rpm speed or play 45 rpm.  I looked through the old forum postings and opened it up.  I exercised the trimmers and put it back together.  While testing it, the little servo belt fell off.  Tried putting it back on and now every time time I press START, it falls off.  Any suggestions as to how I can keep this thing on so I can complete the testing before moving on to "repairing" something else.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or pointers to other forum postings.

Hi and welcome to Beoworld. On a used Beogram 400x turntable I always expect that the two belts will need replacing. -sonavor

I suspect that the speed select relay is dirty as far as the speed goes.

The servo belt is likely loose but the other possibility is the mounting for the pulley has a cracked plastic section where the screw tightens against the brass shaft.  That can tilt the pulley so that it is not parallel to the motor pulley and not at a right angle to the belt.  I used to replace the pulley on every one that came in for service... until the part became "obsolete" .

Now, you should just epoxy it to the shaft making sure it remains at right angle to the brass shaft.

If you need a pulley, I suggest you ask Nick.
He made some very nice pulleys in aluminium.

My plastic pulley cracked in half yesterday but I managed to super glue it back together. I have a feeling that will be a short term fix at best. Does Nick still make the metal pulleys and how do I contact him?

Thanks for any input you can offer.
