Attached is a picture of the well-worn PHONO button on my BM4400.
The shiny bare aluminium is exposed beneath the now-extinct satin finish
Does anyone have any ideas what to use, to restore the original matte finish?

Some people can restore the satin finish of Beogram 4002/4004 decks - see Rudy's blog.
I guess the same method could be applied here, although you would have to use a very special varnish.
