Hello,
I have a pair of P45 that need a suitable replacement driver for the woofer. 4" or 5" I believe.
I have read the repair suggestion posted but the woofer has been frozen for so long the spider
has become deformed. I will attempt repair but for now I just want to replace the driver with
a replacement.
Any suggestion will be helpful.
Also what capacitor brand is suggested to freshen up the electrolytics?.
If necessary I will take out the working woofer reglue it to prevent the magnet from falling off and
measure the parameters and start searching. But due to time I don't think I will be able to do that soon:)
Hi and welcome to the Beoworld!
Unfortunately those drivers from P45/50 (and also S45-2) are known to suffer from this "illness". The magnet loses adhesion to the speakers metal basket, it will relocate and lock the coil solid.
It is very difficult to find genuine drivers for the speakers in good working order. I had a luck some time ago and found 4 drivers, all be working (you can see this in this thread). Last week I changed 2 bad ones on my speaker and I have had 2 more spares. Unfortunately (for you) they will go to Henrik, who has contacted me first.
There are specialists which can repair them but I think, it is not an easy job.
How many of your 4 drivers are faulty?
I hope somebody here can help you and maybe have drivers for you.

Thanks, but I have none at present. They are seriously sought after - particularly since they are so difficult (read: impossible) to match with modern drivers.I suggest a repair.
Oh - and please upgrade to at least silver membership level to place wanted ads. This thread will be deleted shortly.

If you don't mind my asking, how do you know the spiders are permanently deformed? Have you begun the disassembly required of a repair?
I think the consensus is, unfortunately, that your best bet is to repair your current drivers. But don't despair. It isn't that difficult of a job. Where are you located?
