Hi,

I'm having a strange issue with my Beovision 6. I had been using it in my living room connected to a sky box and STB controller but have now moved it to a bedroom where i would like to use the built in DVB-T tuner.

The issue i have is that the Beovision will not receive any of the BBC channels, only ITV and others. My other Samsung TV's are receiving all of the channels so i know its not the aerial at fault.

I have tried retuning but with no success.

The TV has previously been able to receive the BBC frequencies - i wondered if it was possible that the BBC have swapped frequencies to something outwith the capability of the Beovision?

DVB-T software version is 0.2.0.0 dated Nov 27 2008

has anyone else had similar issues?

Scott out of interest what is your signal quality and strength ? They are found under SIGNAL INFORMATION under CHANNELS in SETUP ?

I had a problem in the past when on retuning the TV picked-up weak BBC stations from another region before the more local broadcasts were reached in the tuning sequence. For some reason my TV locked onto the weaker stations.... hence no sound or picture.

We had another problem on a later retuning where the new digital output from the North Wales transmitter was so strong it was picked up in preference to Winter Hill (NW England). That particular problem was dealt with by leaving the aerial connection out until the tuning band had already moved about halfway across the progress screen.

My 6-23 has an external Freeview tuner and after  the last retuning it put all the BBC stations out of order and they could only be found after all the radio and 'Adult' channels. That turned out to be a failure to select the option for the tuner to put the stations into a logical sequence (apparently determined by the broadcasters and transmitted as some sort of code). Another possibility is that you need to do some sort of factory tuning reset (rather than just retuning) to make sure that the TV tuner forgets all the old stations in case the BBC have in fact changed frequencies.

These TV tuners do do strange things from time to time. Freeview Sky News is often missing after I do a retuning but returns after two or three attempts.

Thanks for the responses. I've had a check and the signal quality is 81% with a signal strength of 94%

When the analogue broadcasts were switched off B&O had to introduce a "workaround" to some of the new Freeview channels. It's a while since I had to do this but from what I can remember you have to manually amend some of the settings in the tuner menu. If nobody else can help you I will refer to my notes next week when I return to work after my hols.

This applied to the older DVBt tuner, the later DVB-HD tuner wasn't affected.

Hope somebody else can fill in the gaps in my memory. If you don't have a solution by next Tuesday, please re-post and I will investigate.

That's great Opman thanks for your help.

Another thing I noticed is that there are 3 coax/aerial connections on the TV. One appears to be for the DVB tuner, the other is for the analogue tuner and I presume the 3rd is for output to ML?

My owners manual diagram doesn't make this very clear so it took a bit of working out to identify which was which.

Thanks Mark, I had assumed the TV In and Link TV were the other way round. I've been using the correct input for DTV though.

The "TV in"connector on the beovision is female rather than male so I will find another coax lead to check if that makes a difference.

Hi Opman, i'm afraid I am still struggling with this problem.

Do you have any further information on how to access the tuner menu settings?

thanks so much for your help!

Hi Scott

I have found my old notes relating to this issue when the analogue broadcasts were switched off in the UK. At the time it was a known issue that after retuning when the digital switchover happened, some B&O sets were unable to tune into BBC.

The technical jargon (wasted on me) is that the UK introduced a 166Khz offset from the standard ccir channel raster. Offset channels channels are named Ch.xx+ and Ch.xx-, depending on their offset direction.

DVBt modules with older software may not find the offset frequencies at all.

The first thing to verify is that your TV/DVBt module has the most up to date software.

Solution

  1.
If the module still does not find the channels:

  a.
Please look at: http://www.ukfree.tv/txlist.php and then select the transmitter in question, this site also has some search functions for finding the right transmitter.
  b.
Find the exact frequencies for the transmitter from which you are receiving

i.
E.g. ch. 22(482) - 481.833 MHz BBC B Sc and
ii.
E.g. ch. 23(490) - 489.833 MHz SDN

  c.
Do the following:

i.
Select "4 SETUP" (GO) in the overlay menu.
ii.
Place the cursor on OPTIONS and press RED - GO
iii.Select TRANSPONDER LIST (GO)
iv.The frequency table is now shown

  d.
Select:

i.
E.g. 482 - Key in 481833 - GO => Settings stored. Now the frequency is read as 481 in the table
ii.
E.g. 490 - Key in 489833 - GO => Settings stored. Now the frequency is read as 489 in the table

Please be advised that a REINSTALL ALL and RESET TO DEFAULT will reset the transponder list to default values.

  2.

  a.
Remove the antenna from the product and make a first time setup ("reset to default" or "reinstall all"). This will erase all program lists.
Please be advised that the program list cannot be cleared without performing REINSTALL ALL which also will clear the frequency changes.

  b.
Then select manual tuning and search the frequencies manually one by one, only tuning the frequencies you want to use, and leave out the frequencies for other regions.
  c.
If you want to be able to see other regions, they can be tuned in afterwards and they will then be placed at the end of the channel list.
  d.
When finished, select the broadcaster list in the List menu. Unwanted lists can be hidden in the List menu.
  e.
