Hi I have a problem with my TV and BEO sound.

Problem description;

I bought two BeoLab 18 speakers, 1 BeoLab 19 subwoofer

I want to connect this to my LG oled b6 65 "TV

The B and O dealer stated initially that this was possible, with the same quality light and level as if it were a B and O TV.

They came yesterday to my home and tried 2 solutions.

None of them to full satisfaction.

Solution 1;

LG TV connected to Beolab hub S8 via optical cable that connects to the transmitter 1.

Benefits; high quality sound

Disadvantages:

1) The maximum sound level is low (the speakers can play louder with a B and O TV).

2) I can not turn the sound up and down with LG remote control (as this according to LG runs on Bluetooth and IR but according to B and o it only runs on Bluetooth) so I need to have another separate remote to increase or decrease sound.

3) Beolab hub can not be hidden away since the remote control has to point directly at it before I can turn the sound up and down.

Solution 2:

LG TV connected to the Beolab essence, via optical to analog cable, Beolab essence gets connected to transmitter 1.

advantages:

1) I Can increase the volume much more

2) Volume level can be controlled via iPhone app, and via essence remote

3) The essence is also a music player , with AirPlay etc.

Disadvantages:

The sound is not "clean" and does not feel like the same high quality as B and O usually sounds like.

In both solutions, I also experience a delay with the sound when I am for example watching TV, the mouth of the person on the TV and the sound coming out does not seem to be in sync.

What should I do ? Is there not a proper solution?

I would have thought that the S8 hub solution would have worked.

Did you adjust the sound delay in the LG TV ? Normally you can adjust it in the settings.

You can connect your LG TV directly to the Transmitter 1 via RCA or optical. No need for the essence and the S8 Hub.

But you cannot change the volume then. According to the manual, the optical in on the TR1 requires the volumen to be changed on the TV/Audio system, and optical out is normally a fixed volume on TV's

Yep I thought the same about the hub, but the Sound max is about 50% of the max When the speakers Are connected to a beovision avant tv.

Regarding adjusting delay in Lg tv; the b&o guys said the only thing to be Done is to sctivate "bypass" Which is activated

Does anyone know Why the quality of Sound is lower with the essence ?

I have a fairly similar set up of an LG OLED tele connected to b&o speakers. I simply put optical out from the TV to S8 connection hub, then PL to the speakers.

In my opinion unless you absolutely require wireless speakers, the Transmitter1 is adding to your delay and complexity.

Yes the S8 is not exactly the best DAC but is usable nonetheless.

Deja vu - all over again.

Same set up  Samsung, 18, 19 T1.

Yes you can connect directly but then you can't control the volume.

Also, you will never be able to do Surround Sound.

Net, net - I ended up buying a Marantz AV Receiver and the pre-amp out goest to the Transmitter 1 - problem solved.

Great sound, volume control and expandability.

Just a thought.

Do you also have a Center speaker? Or can you configure the Marantz to use the TV speaker as a Center speaker?

Can you play loud in that setup ?

Can I connect subwoofer by that Way also ?

Is the quality good ?

Can you adjust the Sound level with your Lg Remote ?

Do you experience any delay ?

Which model would you recommend?

How do you connect it to the speakers?

Is the sound clear?

and how do you turn the volume up and down?

I just took a quick look because model # have changed.

My recommendation would be SR 5011 - it provides all the pre-amp outs you could possibly need and will support up too a 7.1 set up, it has build in wi-fi for connectivity and it provides good value for money.

I was as frustrated as you are because I was told the exactly same thing and it simply did not work.

I think you will find that after initially being satisfied with a 18/19 setup you will soon want rear speakers and a center for a full 5.1 which will be outstanding with your new OLED TV.

Good luck.

I forgot to answer your question on sound - it is fantastic and you will find that the sound set up tool provided with the Marantz works like a charm.

Lastly, your Transmitter 1 of course will also support rear /surround speakers.

So from my Marantz I am feeding via T!  front, rear, subwoofer and center as well as a second zone where I took my old 4000 and added Receiver 1 to each to make them wireless.

Works like a charm!
