Hi all,

I've been lucky enough to acquire a BeoMaster 2000, a BeoSound 9000 and RedLine 60.2 loud-speakers. But it seems I need some help with connecting them together as my knowlegde of this subject is limited.

I got a second-hand BeoLink Converter 1611 (sw 1.3) as I expected it to be able to connect the BM2000 (through DataLink) to the BS9000 (with MasterLink).

As far as I can tell all the units are working. The speakers sound great when connected to the BM2000 through which I can get radio, TV (through phono plugged in Tape 2) and any mini-jack device through Tape 1. The BS9000 can be powered on and (from the looks of it) plays CDs - but I have been unable to get any sound from it.

The BS9000 is built to be used with active speakers and cannot be connected to the RedLines directly, so I figured I would connect it to the BM2000 on Phono - using it as a amplifier. Sadly this has not been the case.

I read (see links) that the BeoLink Converter should auto-configure and expected to connect the BM to it via a 7-pin DataLink cable from Phono to the BeoLink Connecters' Aux Audio Link and using either MasterLink or PowerLink (or both - does anyone know?) to connect the Converter with the BS9000.

Can anyone tell me if this setup *should* be working or if I've misunderstood how these things work? There is a crackle in the speakers when I power on the Connector - so some signal does get through.

Has anyone used a BeoLink Converter 1600 with wither a BeoMaster 2000 or a BeoSound 9000? What other option do I have if this setup will not work?

I must add that I've already contacted two Bang-Olufsen stores with these questions but was not helped in any way. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
convert

Hi Convert and welcome to beoworld.

Others here might be able to advise you on whether the Beolink Converter option is feasible with your setup, but your simplest option might be to speak to Steve @ Sounds Heavenly who will be able to supply a cable to connect the powerlink output of the BS9000 to one of the TAPE inputs on the BS9000.

Forget using the Phono input on the BM2000 for anything other than a turntable, as the BM2000 has an RIAA preamp on this input so line level devices will not work.

If after connecting the BS9000 this way you require another input you could use the AUX input of the BS9000 (again, Steve would be able to supply a lead to allow connection of 3.5mm jack or phono connections to this input).

Hope this helps.

Martin.
