I'm wondering why B&O hasn't enabled web radio on the BeoPlay v1. It's available on bv avant, 11 and bsys 4 so it should be possible on v1 as well.

Anyone here asked B&O or know why? I'm considering asking them because it feels strange having to stream it from my living room avant to my v1. Would prefer not to use Apple TV for web radio and just use the v1 so I can fall a sleep to classical music. Smile

This was discussed a couple of times here.

There will be no 'Webradio' on the V1's.

The official explanation is/was: because of license fees.

But (in your case) - what is wrong with streaming from the Avant?

Really? Licensing fees for free web radio? It sounds dodgy.

Streaming from the avant requires the avant to turn on and it's just unnecessary from a energy point I think.

I can't imagine that implementing the TuneIN service is 'for free'.

Yes - of course the Avant must be 'on', but 'how much on' must it be?

Would be interesting to test that/know the details.

Are they using tunein? As tunein on iPhone? It's free there. I would gladly pay for a license on v1. In v1 you can pay for hdmi matrix (included in the other models) and previously you could pay for smart-features as well. A cost they decided not to charge. So it's strange that the feature is just unavailable.

Not sure how good it is to power on the avant all the time. I'll try it out and see. But it seems like an unnecessary walk around a problem.

That is what I said too. But that did not seem to be possible.

maybe the engine in the V1 simply can't manage it???

Why not try and ask that question (again) - will be interesting, which answer you would get from Beocare.

I'll send them an email. The problem can not be the engine, since it is the same. And since it can stream hd videos on my network, why not small radio files then? :).

By the way. My V1 turns on much quicker, the avant is very slow. Strange.

The 'engine' comes in different versions.

However, I don't know the exact differences - would be nice to learn more about it!

I guess the Avant has to wait because of the movement of the speaker.

When (or if) you use the N.Radio from the Avant on the V1 - how long does it take for it to come alive (through the V1) - just curious ;-)

The BV11 doesn't have web radio only tunein radio in the apps of web media.

It's like the Avant web radio but it's not web radio.

The tunein app is not available on the V1 ? If true that's strange.

I guess we're talking of the TuneIN service as a source (NetRadio), that can be assigned to a button and that way be activated by the remote.

TuneIN is available as an app on the SmartTV platform on my V1 (never noticed before).

But that does not help much. I have to turn on to Webmedia, go into apps, start TuneIN, choose my station (from the presets, mostly) and mute the picture.

Something I might (?) live with, but surely nothing, that I can expect my wife to do...

...and not very B&O'ish!!!

I find my prefered danish station - no problem.

But there is no support for my absolute favorite station = Radio Paradise.

This makes this way of listening to NetRadio obsolete.

Starting TuneIN (or the app of the prefered station) on the iDevice and airplaying from there to the connected ATV is a bit easier - and something my wife already can.

You mean 'you don't know'?

In that case = start WebMedia from Menu -> Source List.

You will then see already loaded apps.

You might have to scroll to the right to see them all (you can move these, if you please).

If TunrIN is not there, try to search in the app gallery.

! There can be differences in different countries !

Activate/choose TuneIN and find your station (or log in)

I'll have to check the timing for using the web radio feature via avant. I don't remember.

Odd that tunein is available in the crappy smart feature. It's truly an awful smart-tv-solution.

The web radio feature I am talking about on avant is not started via the smart-tv feature. It just looks like the home media feature and works very well. Can't think of any reason for this not working on a V1 actually.

I'll talk to BeoCare about it but I don't think they will change it.

Just in case you are like me = a devoted Radio Paradise listener ;-)

Go to the Internet app (in the WebMedia), search for www.radioparadise.com, bookmark that page....

...and start listening.

Be sure to choose 192 kbps as quality.

P.S. Airplaying from the iOS-app Paradise Radio would give you a stream of 320 kbps.
