Hi all

Over the last few years I have been on a journey with speakers for my music room where loud music is played for parties.

I have been through Bowers and Wilkins CM9's, beolab 9's, beolab 12's and some others with no luck.

I decided to buy some Penta's and originally loved them, I kind of was getting tired of them as they did not sound quite bright enough and I would turn them up to compensate and then the bass protection would cut in.

Well it turns out I had both speakers set to the same channel but I still thought maybe the midrange electronics were in need of some TLC.

I went on the moment and checked I had the loudness on and treble was up high, still something was missing.

I found a setting called frequency and this was set to natural, I changed it to bright and the Penta 3 opened up, they were amazing, perfect sound, now the midrange and treble were heard the speakers didn't need to be turned up so high and no bass cut outs.

What an amazing set of speakers I would recommend them to anyone.

Yes. I agree. They are among the best speakers I have ever heard. I still have the pair that I bought back in 1996. I like the BeoLab 5 a little better, but cannot bring myself to get rid of the Pentas.

BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.

I agree.

The 5's are amazing the difference for me the penta's are affordable.

The 5's are to expensive for occasional use Smile

I'm a recent Penta convert, and I agree they are incredible. I bought a pair of Penta 3's earlier this summer.

So resolving in fact I discovered my laptop was running some Dolby 'enhancement' software that was removing a lot of midrange detail and separation when compared to iPhone and iPod.

I sold basically my whole B&O setup (some beoplay products left that I will keep, and some remotes I just have to get around to get on an auction site).

But the Penta´s? Those are staying next to the sofa in the living room, connected to an ICEpower amplifier, waiting to be re-freted.

I love them :)
