My 1997 P3's have started to crackle and pop when turned on, sometimes with input and sometimes with no input.  Rather alarming as can be loud.  Original problem sort of went away after changing to a new cable, but came back after.  No amount of cable changes will make the pops go away.

Can someone suggest what can be done, replaced, or refurbished. These have only been used with a 9000 and 28" Avant.

Many thanks in advance

Could be a weak solderjoint. What cables are you using? You could try a differnt input and see if it solves the issue.

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

Original 8 pin cables, some more cables from local B&O store, and 8 pin Powerlink MK3 from Heavenly.

I forgot to add that there is a distinct hum.  I've tried both inputs.

How do I go about checking for a broken solder joint? I haven't attempted to open it up and am not sure where to start or look.
