Hi Guys,

I've recently noticed a rhythmic noise from my BG8000 through the speakers. It's a very faint sound and can only be heard on quiet passages and silent grooves with the volume turned up. The noise happens every time the threaded shaft turns that advances the tonearm. The tonearm mechanism has all been cleaned and re-lubricated.

Is this normal behaviour? Any thoughts?

Many thanks

Lee

Did you replace all the caps in the kit?
Are you sure, the noise relates to the carriage movement and not the revolution of the platter?

Hi Martin,

I'm sure the noise is from the carriage and not the platter. If i put the stylus in a silent locked groove you can't hear it.

Maybe it's just how they are.... Is this the downside to having a motor moving the tonearm?

Strike that... It was the optical assembly for regulating speed. I've adjusted it and it seems to have stopped making the noise. :-D
