I am moving to a new place in a few days and I wonder how to transport my four BL8000 without damaging them. I have a box for two, but since I have four speakers I would first have to remove the bases from two, transport them, assemble them, and then box the other pair and do the same procedure again. I am moving about 100 km so they will have to be in a moving truck for about two-three hours.

Can I move them standing up if I wrap enough bubble wrap or what is best?

I guess someone should have a good idea since these speakers have been around for almost as long as myself Smile.

Is it possible for you to move the pair without the box yourself? Or maybe borrow or rent one from a  dealer who might have one available for you to use.

I'd definitely recommend that they not be stood up however well they're wrapped. The less they move the better off they'd be. If I were you I'd worry most about not damaging the fabric of the covers. Consider taking the frets off and wrapping them separately, then using heavy duty bubble wrap to wrap the rest of the speakers. Remove the bases, as they're the strongest and most resilient bits. Use cardboard to cover the driver areas of the main speaker bodies taking care to ensure that they're not pressed in before wrapping the rest of the speaker in bubblewrap over the cardboard.

I'd still say the easiest approach is to call around and borrow a box from someone. It may cost you a little bit but, better to be safe than sorry. Heck, may want to call around and purchase a box. I know here in the states, some B&O authorized shops can order OEM boxes.

If you can not get more boxes, just remove the base and wrap the speakers in bubble wrap/blankets. Should be fine lying down.

I have transported lab 1s and 8000s in this fashion.

But using your own or a borrowed car is what I would suggest.

A truck without boxes sounds like a bad idea....

Thanks for your suggestions! Sounds like I should box the first pair as soon as I get home. As I am doing the move in two rounds I think the easiest is to use the same boxes ( just assemble the bases to the speakers directly in the new place and taking the box with me back to the old place).

I don't have a car myself and I think it will be filled with other sensitive things anyway. Otherwise that would have been a good idea. I don't want to damage them in any way :).
