I have an Beomaster 3000-2 which has not been used for some years as it makes a fairly loud humming/buzzing noise when it is turned on. Could anyone recommend someone who could repair it for me? Ideally in London or the UK.

Sounds very much to me like a buzzing transformer of which there is no real solution.
It is common on many of these models (I have a couple that do this) and other than getting the transformer repaired which is not an easy or cost effective job I would recommend finding a donor unit and replacing it.

Hi Ken, and welcome to Beoworld.
krm431:I have an Beomaster 3000-2 which has not been used for some years as it makes a fairly loud humming/buzzing noise when it is turned on.
Just to confirm - is the humming/buzzing sound coming from the Beomaster itself or the speakers attached to it?

If the humming is coming from inside the Beomaster, Ben is right, it's likely to be the transformer. The usual fix for a humming transformer would be to have it dipped in varnish and baked, but the BM3000-2 transformer is potted inside a metal box so that is unfortunately not an option in this instance. A replacement transformer from a donor unit is likely to be the only practical solution remaining (or just live with the humming sound).
Kind Regards,
Martin.
I may be able to help with a replacement unit if required if you think that it is the transformer which has gone.
An overloaded transformer can also produce hum.It could be overloaded from a bad rectifier, bad filter capacitor or stray idle current(s).Worth checking.
