Well I've gone and done it ive purchased a brand new A6 Beoplay to fill my room with sound as the add states... So I unpacked it set it up with the aid of the MICROFIESH sized wording in the multi-language quick start guide , I attempted to use it as a WIFI speaker that could be added as a new speaker on Apple ios7 as per the instructions I couldn't get it the Apple to recognise the  speaker I had the flashing amber led on the A6 . So contacted my dealer it turns out my A6 software needs to be upgraded ! I had intended to attempt to hook it up to my beovision 8/40 as a extra speaker.... By now Mrs P is frowning and I'm trying to defend it saying its ok I'm just trying to hook it up via WIFI I will pair it up instead to the iPad I got the led to go to flashing blue it paired up then dropped it flashing blue..... All this to listen to music! According to B&O Norwich I need to upgrade my BT hub router then  install beo connect? On my laptop Apple safari can't download that file type on iPad Then connect via Ethernet cable to the speaker then Beomusic MIGHT say hello and recognise my A6 as its not in the product list!!!!!  It's now 8 hours plus since cancelled the EBay listing and  packed it back into its box where the plastic handle came out of its slot on one end  as I tried to unpack it... and contacted parcel force to deliver it to lifestyle av in a direct swap with a set of  second hand Mint Beolab 4 speakers. Some of you may think I'm mad or whatever but in all honesty can we really say we are progressing  Beoplay +apple+ buffering - connecting  then dropping out is really gripping my ,,,,,,, t  we were going to get a V1 40 inch but it's just too big a leap into software updates buffering etc.

Comment if you wish troll me as a Luddite but this modern world connections are nothing but a pain!!!!

I think someone else reported similar problems with the initial setup.

In regards to airplay, for me since I started to run a 5Ghz network it works without a glitch

I think the dealer messed it up for you.

The upgrade was not required to get it to function well.

Don't know why they said you had to update your BT hub router. And what is Beo connect?

My A6 works well with a rock solid connection.

Sorry for your experience.

Hiort:

And what is Beo connect?

Beoconnect was (for some people it still is) a software, that you would have to install on your Pc/Mac in order to connect to a BeoMaster 5.

'BeoConnect is the connecting link between your favourite media player and your BeoMaster 5 offering convenient and ...' is the official description.

To me it seems, that the dealer mentioned above doesn't have the slightest idea of how NL-products works.

A pity ----- the A6 seems to be a nice device.

I saw and listened to the A6 for the first time at the weekend. I think it looks much better in the flesh than in pictures (who would have thought?) very classy. Sound wise I prefer it a little to my BS8. Bass is cleaner and punchier. I really like the wool front. Something very different. If I had had somewhere for it to go I'd buy one.

Maurice I think all tech companies should provide a gratis gift for the wife or partner, maybe as you unpack your new toy there should be located just under the instructions a little something... this should work two fold, allow a little breathing space to install and soften any issues later....

upload some pics when fully installed and enjoy

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

The post was a bit difficult to read but I think Maurice traded the A6 already Sad I don't understand why he traded it with Lifestyle AV. He could probably get full refund from his dealer.

To bad, because the A6 is a wonderful piece of Beoplay gear.

Ok guys thanks very much for the replys, in the defence of B&O Norwich Duane & Emmanuel have always been very helpful with regards to any issues or questions i throw in their direction "and believe me they have earned their money in helping  from me alone!!!  The store is always very welcoming and helpful, Duane even contacted me today to find out if it was anything they did which made me trade the speaker, it wasnt guys dont worry.

My issue is that its just too blooming complicated to listen to music these days with new devices its all virtual media leaving little or no scope for what i call the TA-DAH factor in a wifi speaker.  I fully accept "that times they are a changin" to quote Dylin, and Bang & Olufsen have to go with the times and attempt to make a profit , but Lets be honest and with ourselves for a moment, would anyone be able to walk past their showroom window let alone not buy a new model modern Beogram  Turntable that raised its lid a little as we approached it then the 33/45 would twinkle as if to say "Come on you know that you want too" i for one couldnt! I just think rightly or wrongly that the modern media formats are very problamatic in allowing the WOW factor to show through in its design.  One more point then i will climb of my soap box WHY oh Why guys at the idears factory didnt you put a motorised acoustic lense in the top of the Beolab 18 which would rise up when receiving a track to play .... Such a wasted oppertunity! Their ive finished EXHALE .......sigh

I take on board your point kuyttendaele, not that B&O could ever be accused of being shy of charging for speakers, a certain beolab 90 spring to mind, im guessing B&O would have to pay rights to install somthing they origionally d veloped "to my knowledge "

No different from the motorised speaker on the avant really.
