Moment with BL8000's and Beolab 19 not producing bass in a fully wireless setup

Hello everyone,

My setup is fully wireless and I brought my 15 year old BL8000s into the Moment setup by connecting receiver 1's to each. This has worked really well and having waited a long time, decided to add a BL 19 to improve the bass notes. The 19 connected first time to the moment through the wireless setup but I'm getting no bass notes from the 19. What's odd (to me) is when I go through the wireless setup each speaker can be clearly heard, including the low end rumble from the 19 -- but when I play music...nothing.

The low pass filter is switched off - when I switch it on I hear nothing so I assume it needs to be off as the instructions are not clear with my particular configuration - and have setup the rest per BL19 instructions and after reading Geoff Martin's article.

I'm not considering wired in any circumstances and will return the 19 if it turns out that my only option is to connect it to the moment with a cable.  I'm wondering whether the fact that the BL8000's show up as 'other' (I presume since they're connected with receiver 1's and are 15 years old) in the moment wireless setup means it somehow assumes 'other' speakers should have all bass routed to them, and not to the 19.

It's proving a tricky problem to solve so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Strange. Someone here posted a very similar problem recently.

Thanks for the reference - it seems that the BL19 'responds' to the bass management of TVs in terms

of directing sound to the most appropriate or able source to produce it - but it doesn't seem to be responding to the bass management of the Moment.

Any other thoughts welcome.

Try repairing all speakers starting with the 19.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Thanks BeoMegaMan,

I tried this but didn't work - I also completed a factory reset and reinstalled/re-paired everything from scratch starting with the 19 to see if that would work and again, no result. It's so odd that I can clearly hear the 19 when I hit the 'locate' option during wireless setup on the Moment, but nothing comes through when playing music. I double checked checked with the dealer to ensure I have selected the right settings on the '19 so all good there. I'm convinced that the 8000s with the receiver 1s showing up as 'other' in the Moment settings is the root cause of the bass notes being routed to the speakers and not the 19. I'll close out with a resolution in the new year either way - in the meantime I have a beautifully designed piece of furniture to look at!

Just a short note to let you know I found a solution/workaround to the problem. I connected the 8000s to the moment using PL ‘wires’ whilst leaving the BL19 in wireless mode. As with the wireless setup, the speakers show up, as ‘other’ in wired mode and the 19 does not produce bass.

However, in wired setup mode on the moment you are offered two additional options to select the speaker type – as either Beovox1/2 (the age of these speaker options meaning little to no functionality or UI testing by B&O on this part of the UI :) Selecting either beovox option solves the problem and the bass comes through on the 19. So sweet.

So the next stage was to unplug the wired speaker, plug back in the receiver 1, activate it as ‘other’ in the wireless setup. Experience delight that the 19 is still pushing out the bass notes, Repeat the same process for the other speaker and lo and behold it all works. Wirelessly!

I guess the moment Dev team need to update the software to fix this. Hopefully that can come soon.

Hope this solution helps other beoworlders. Thanks to all who read and responses to my post.

Did you try the following;

In stereo mode you should turn the LPF filter to ON and turn the dial to left (:45). Turn the gain up as you wish, and for extra bass put the position switch to Free and lower to desired level.

Also when the 19 is properly connected there is BASS balance en BASS settings and Freq tilt in the Speaker settings menu. Do check this out.
