Hi all,A friend of mine has BL5, connected to his imac by spdif via an optical to coax converter. The coax is specifically for digital audio, he did not accidentaly buy ordinary RCA.The BL5 are in option 1, pressing radio on Beo4 turns them on.
The converter connects to the first BL5 throught digital in. Another coax cable is used from the first BL5 digital out into the second BL5 digital in.
Imac optical>---<Opt to coax converter>-------<1st BL5>--------< 2nd BL5>
Sometimes when turning on the BL5's the first will stay silent even though the light turns green The second BL5 will play normally. This means the signal is passed on through the first BL5, but it doesn't seem to do anything with it.
Switching the first and second BL5 around doesn't solve the problem, so I don't think there is a fault in the speaker.
Using or not using a link cable makes no difference.
Pulling out the spdif from the 1st BL5 and reinserting cures the problem, it will start playing then.
What could be causing this? Is something wrong?
Are the RIGHT/LEFT switches on the back panel in the correct position on each speaker?

Sounds like a cable or connector issue...
Did you tried to swap the SPDIF cables ?
