I am in the processing of changing my B&O completely.. Had a lot of old stuff, system 7000/4500 and mcl link in my rooms, currently only a Beosound 3000 in the living room and  connected to a Beolab 2000 in the bedroom.

I use timerplay on the bs3000 very much, but cannot seem to find that feature in the Moment user guide

It's time for move to the newer stuff I think, had a lot of fun with the vintage systems with beolink 5000/7000 and I'm trying to convince my self that I need the moment to start replacing the old stuff completely..

But if timerplay is not an option, I will keep the current setup ..

Hi - the only time related setup the Moment is offering is to put the SoundHeart (base station) in sleep mode after 24h of uninterrupted music streaming. Timer play is then a request for enhancement to submit to B&O I'm afraid.

BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1

Well, then that is decided, no Moment for me.. I have been following some of the threads regarding Moment and Twonkey and iTunes, and all I can say is that how are "normal" people going to get that to work ? it seems that you need to be a computer/network expert to get it up and running ?

I could do it myself since I am a computer/network specialist ;) But as it is now, the Moment cannot replace my Beosound 3000/Beolab 2000 functionality. it is a shame since I have money to burn, but no where to burn them :)

Not true

some insight / feeling for technic in general would be appreciated though.

Timer: spend your money on a Moment and a Beolink Gateway. Then you can program any timer you want!

But why do I need to spend 60% of the price of a Moment, on the Gateway that I don't really need, just to get timerplay? I just want the Moment to turn on the radio at specific times during the week.. Maybe timer play is not used by people other than me anymore, but I would rather spend the Gateway money on a Beoplay A6  in my bedroom to replace the Beolab 2000..

Hey you wrote, you had money to burn.

And the BLGW is more than only a timer switch for the Moment.............so see the fun of it (or not), but add the Beoplay A6

/Weebyx

A BeoSound Moment/A6 combo is a quite different breed than a Beosound 3000/Beolab 2000 combo.

Perhaps you should consider, what you need for your preferences. If the missing 'timer play' is what makes you decide against the Moment/A6, you maybe don't need the features of that combo at all.

Don't upgrade (!) for the sake of upgrading.

However, as other posters already mentioned, there are ways  to get 'timer play' working with a clever combination of, what B&O offers....

....especially if you 'have money to burn'.

I know I said I had money to burn, but they are the result of saving for a long time :) So I would like to have most new stuff(that I need) for my money :)

I know they are different breeds, but I would like to get on the new streaming wave, I don't listen to enough new music today, as I need to do to much "manuel" stuff, and hoping that the Moment would help me discover new music, I would think that it was a good jump into the new B&O stuff.

Back in the good old days, I changed my Beosystem/beosound every time a new child appeared :) When the Moment came out, I was interested in it, but decided to wait until the SW was done, and had the new multiroom functionality. This is now, and I like the wireless possibilites, I just like the timer play functionality in my existing setup. And spending 10K DKK on a timer play function, I think is a bit over the top :) I have no requirement for controlling light and curtains and so on with the Gateway, so it would just sit there and do nothing.

A timerplay function would be simple to implement in my opinion. Maybe I should write to Beocare and check with them if it is in the pipeline ?

You could maybe combine it with a BeoTime alarm clock?

Timer play was one verry basic and useful thing in the old master link network. I really miss it allot now with my Moment/BLC configuration I hope that BO will update the SW with this function because then they will has something that other producers dont has.

I also considered upgrading and found the lack of a timer as one reason not to upgrade.

As for using a Beotime, I am not sure how well that would work. Maybe I am missing something, but I was never able to get it to turn the system on without also sounding the alarm and requiring the Beotime alarm to be deactivated in order for the timer to work again. Have not tried it for years, just use it as a regular alarm clock so maybe I just do not know how to set it correctly.

It seems that the alarm always will sound, so if I should use the Bedtime, then it should be placed in the livingroom for the IR to turn on the moment, but then the alarm will sound from the living room, and I need to get up and walk in there to turn it off.. Then I could just as well turn on the Moment myself, and use the iPhone as alarm :)

Oh well, for now, I will wait a bit with the Moment..

While waiting for the answer - and maybe (?) some things to change, you could buy an Essence (hideaway box only) and connect it to the A.Aux of your BS3000 - and control the various functions of it with the BeoMusic app.

One way to start into streaming! N.B. The Essence can cooperate with your new (!) A6 as well.

I don't see why you would use the essence with a older system. The wheel would be obsolete.

I would connect a Chromecast. It takes almost anything you throw at it Big Smile

@Leo...

Yes - that was what I wrote, actually.

If you are fine with what the Chromecast Audio gives you, you are right.

If not - and you want the other options including being part of a B&O NL-multiroom setup - you are wrong.

I already have my AppleTV connected to the BS3000 via A.AUX, so I can stream everything I like. But I would like to get the new multiroom functionality, the wireless functionality, and the B&O feeling of it.

That is why the Moment and an A6 would be perfect for me now, the Moment in the livingroom would be connected to my tv via AUX, and the rest is streaming.. So the Moment and A6 could 100% replace my old system, and I could start over without converter boxes and so on... A fresh clean start into the new B&O :)

If only it had TimerPlay :)

I have written to BeoCare, lets see what the answer is..

Isn't NL the new stuff?

I thought ML was the old stuff.

A Chromecast should work with ML in multiple rooms.

BO Care answered me in June that they did not had it on their to do list. But maybe could they change their mind if there are many who ask for it. So please ask for this function...

But I can do the same with chromecast as the appletv today... It's just not the functionality I am after.. I would like to

use the mood wheel to find and listen to new music, I would like to have a new B&O system, I would like to use the wireless :)

Maybe I should just buy it and see if I can live without the timer..

Are we talking a BV?

What do you mean by 'Moment.....connected to my tv via AUX'?

Today my Samsung TV is connected to the bs3000 via optical connection(and converter), and the tv, including appletv, wdtv live and my ip-tv box is controlled via Beo6.

I would use the same with the Moment, using the line-in on Moment from my TV/Apple-tv/wdtv sound via a Beolab 7.1

So the Moment would just replace the bs3000 all-together. The only ML link I have is the bl2000 in the living room, and this will be the A6 instead..

That could be a way to do it.

I fear that there might be some sync issues, when the (tv) sound goes through the Moment this way.

Maybe some one, who has tried it, can tell you if/if it matters.

Hmm, today I have no issues with the sound, so the problem would only occur if the Moment is slower than the bs3000 in handling the processing of line-in sources ?

Here is an answer from BeoCare I received last February rel. Moment line-in delays:

Regarding your questions,
The delay upon the RCA input/output then the delay is approximately ½ second, meaning that you cannot use this option with your TV as sound and picture will not be simultaneous.
The RCA has by default a sensitivity which cannot be changed. The TR1(Transmitter 1) can be adjusted regarding sensitivity, but this requires a servicetool and can only be done via your Bang & Olufsen retailer.
TR1 does not have a delay as the RCA option has, and due to this we also recommend the TR1 with connection to a 3rd party TV.

BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1

Christ.... Apparently I will not be getting a new B&O soundsystem as it is now... what a shame that they does not manufacture an Audio Master that can replace a BS3000/3200/9000 or for that matter EVERY other audio system I have had since 1991 !! Oh well.... I tried :)
